You may have noticed that the Beans have a soft spot for fantasy, especially in our TV shows! We have a few here who never miss an episode of the hit series "Once Upon a Time", which follows a modern twist on classic fairy tale characters. When we heard that this season would be featuring Ana and Elsa from the hit Disney movie, Frozen (another employee and customer fav), we knew we had to do something special! We've teamed up with Lorna's to create a frosty new Limited Edition color for October: Frozen Upon a Time! This fresh mix of silvery blues for Elsa and pinks and purples for Ana will have you warming up your fingers to cast on and delve into your own wintery fairyland! | To sweeten the deal, our very own Rachel of Unraveled Designs will be leading a Mystery Knitalong with a brand new pattern guaranteed to freeze you with anticipation! The pattern is now available on Ravelry for $3.50 (it will go up to $7 after the MKAL). This event will kick off Sunday, October 12th to ensure you all get your yarn and supplies with time to spare, and as with our other Mystery KALs, the clues will be posted on Ravelry and on the Unraveled Designs Blog each week in conjunction with the air dates of the TV show. The project will use 2 hanks of Shepherd Worsted, or approximately 450 yards of your favorite worsted weight yarn. |
Last but not least, Spark is at it again and has created a gorgeous custom set of Ana-and-Elsa-inspired stitch markers! The set included not one, but TWO charm markers (one for each sister) and coordinating jewel markers to go along with the Frozen Upon a Time colorway. Note: these stitch markers are not required for the MKAL, but will definitely come handy (if not for the KAL, for other projects this winter)! |

If you're participating in the upcoming Once Upon a Time Mystery KAL, this skill may come in handy (wink, wink). Even if you aren't able to participate, casting on in the middle of your work is a simple skill that comes in super-handy for all sorts of projects. In this short video tutorial, Jeanne talks about the different ways you can get those extra stitches cast on! |

We couldn't believe the outpouring of support and encouragement we received for our Sandy after we announced that she'd be starting chemo for her recurrent cancer. It seems you all have the biggest hearts of any customers we've ever heard of! Your generous offers to donate and knit for a cause got us thinking: why not create a product that allows for both? As soon as we talked to Beth at Lorna's Laces, she was onboard. She's created a stunning peach-colored yarn, the color for Endometrial Cancer support, calansWool.com/knitting/yarn/LornasLaces/Honor.asp?showLarge=true&specPCVID=60106" >Go, Sandy, Go! for us to offer while Sandy's undergoing chemo. This beautiful shade is available in super-soft Honor, and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to SD Ireland Cancer Research Fund as part of their impending "Cast off Chemo" project! | If you need an idea of something to knit, Jeanne-bo-beanie has drafted a fun convertible cowl-to-hat pattern called the Go, Sandy, Go Chemo Cozy. This accessory uses just 1 skein of Honor and comes in easy and advanced options for all levels of knitting. The pattern is just $3 on Ravelry, and all proceeds also go to benefit the SD Ireland Cancer Research Fund. Whatever you decide to knit or crochet with Go, Sandy, Go!, we'd love to flood our social media outlets with your projects to call attention to the cause, so please to send us pictures or share them via Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pintrest, or Ravelry! |
