Motherhood can be scary at times, especially in this new, uncharted territory. It's a wonder how our moms kept their heads cool when we were up to something particularly dangerous as a child (like climbing on things we probably weren't supposed to). To celebrate our loving, patient mothers even more we've teamed up with RosiePosie Design to kit up her gorgeous Find Your Way Cowl. Available in three colorways, the Find Your Way Cowl kit comes with pre-wound balls of Malabrigo Rios, a decorative leather garment tag for finishing, and the download code for the pattern all packed up in a reusable glass jar. Choose between multi-colored marvels or tone it down with the two-color option. No matter which you choose, mom is sure to be pleased. Please note: The Find Your Way Cowl does not come with the needles required. We recommend using a US 5 (3.75mm) - 16" and a US 7 (4.5mm) - 16".

We like to think of motherhood as a new dawn. The sun comes up, it's a new day, and for many of us, it feels like the beginning of a new journey - each day is a struggle, but it's a worthwhile one. One we wouldn't trade for the world most of the time!
|
|
Mirroring this train of thought is the newest Making Magazine, Making No. 11 / DAWN. The dawn of the new day feels like the dawn of a new project - one journey we wouldn't quite mind going on a little more often! In this edition of Making Magazine, we're told to stop and smell the roses, so to speak, slowing down our busy day-to-day lives to really take in all of our surroundings and emotions, to just chill out and enjoy what we're doing. Too often are we in such a rush to get to the finish line that we forget to enjoy the process.
|
As we make, we utter a promise to ourselves that we're going to take it slow, and sometimes we follow through, but other times we try out for being the world's next speed-maker. In essence, this is fine, but sometimes we just need to relax, and that's one of the most rewarding things we can do for ourselves. Making Magazine pairs gorgeous patterns with equally breathtaking photography and stories that inspire.

OMG It's OML!Our mothers always had a way of making us question what they were doing while simultaneously admiring them for those quirky habits. We didn't realize that simply adding a book to the coffee table would spark conversation while also getting us to indulge just a little bit more often. Our moms are so smart - why did we ever question them? |
Our newest tabletop page-turner is the most recent book by the collective turned movement that is Our Maker Life. This collection of both knit and crochet patterns features designs that any adventurous beginner and beyond can dive into needles and hooks first! Adorned with beautiful photography and stunning stories, this is the ideal book to start your own personal library (or simply add it to your already impressive hoard, er, stash).

Don't Be a Pill!Cleaning is never something we particularly want to do, yet we spend so much of our time doing it - how did we let this place get so messy!? While cleaning for most is nothing more than just something to get done, we can't just gloss over the fact that it's sooo satisfying to see the finished product. |
|
That's why we're so obsessed with the Gleener Fuzz Remover! Easy to use and oh-so-satisfying to boot, we can't not talk about it! You know the drill, you wear your favorite sweater, like, five times, and suddenly it's overtaken by pills! Okay, that may sound a little dramatic, but it's so annoying when we have pills on our projects, is it not? The Gleener Fuzz Remover is a fabric shaver and lint brush combo which safely gets rid of those pesky fuzzballs and lint - it even works with pet hair! Spruce up your favorite shawl before a night on the town with this easy-to-use design.

Project On Our Needles!
Winnie's Starflake Shawl
You didn't think we'd celebrate Mother's Day without giving a shoutout to our own motherly Beans, did you? Of course not! Our Bean, Winni (aka one of our many speed-knitters) received a Jimmy Beans Starflake Shawl Bouquet and immediately set aside time to make it. It was a fun project for her that resulted in a gorgeous, uniquely shaped design that she'll wrap up in for years to come! Laying in bed, keeping cozy, she lost herself in the hand-dyed strings of Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light, knitting and purling to her heart's content! She was also pleasantly surprised to learn that this shawl became a "Choose Your Own Adventure" kind of project, letting her decide between garter stitch or brioche to add those details to make it one-of-a-kind to her!
