Swans Island Natural Colors Fingering Onesies Grab Bags Yarn Reviews

PLEASE NOTE: colors may vary from those shown!

Each grab bag contains 2 different-colored hanks of Swans Island Natural Colors Fingering. The hanks come largely unlabeled and contain small inconsistencies in color that distinguish them from the rest. Many of the skeins came out too light or too dark in the dyeing process, so color variation in general is a factor. There are also skeins with dots where drops of another color got on them, or white patches where the dye couldn't get to the yarn due to the string being tied too tight.

This incredible fingering weight yarn is dyed with natural dyes in a labor intensive process that brings much joy to the dyer, the knitter and the environment. It results in beautiful yarns with lots of variegation that vary from lot to lot. The generous 525 yards per skein is enough to create an exquisite shawl.

Regretting this purchase 1 out of 5 stars (1 out of 5)
My 2 hanks do have color inconsistencies, which I was fine with, but I am finally knitting up my 1 of my 2 hanks and am very unhappy with the yarn. I am hoping I don’t have any problems with my 2nd hank. While trying to wind this into a ball, there were many knots, random ends that were not knotted, and some tangles. Took forever to get this wound. Now I am about halfway through a project and I have had to do AT LEAST 20 Russian joins. Again - I am HALFWAY through my project - this seems absolutely ridiculous to me. I have also run in to some sections of yarn where a ply or two has broken, so that’s more joins on top of all the joins from knots. I do like the yarn itself, but the issues I am experiencing are frustrating. At one point I had 2 knots very close together, so I just ended up skipping that but of yarn out and tossing it. Crazy to have 2 knots within about 10 inches of each other. I would not buy this grab bag again. Glad I picked it up from WW and not full price.

Color was fine. Skein was butchered 2 out of 5 stars (2 out of 5)
I bought this knowing that the color would be off. It was also a kind of surprise since you didn't know what color you would end up with. 1 skein was fine. Like the description said, it had white spots where the dye didn't penetrate. The 2nd skein is what I have a problem with. It wounded up as 1 large ball, 1 medium ball, and 3 tiny balls. I am very disappointed since I was not expecting little snippets of yarn.
