Stone Washed, similar to its sister worsted base Stone Washed XL, is made with a cotton core that has a fuzzy halo in a complimentary, tonal color. Using a size 3.5 mm crochet hook, the yarn is very nice to work with! No splitting, no issues with the colors. One knot so far, but they even give you your starting piece, tail marked!! That’s fabulous!’ Idk if I would make a scarf or sweater wit it, but I am highly picky about what I invest in wearables.
My project was for a baby blanket so I called in advance of purchasing to ask which yarn felt softer and better suited - this yarn or Cascade Ultra Pima Fine - and was told that either would work well for a baby blanket. I definitely should have gone with the Cascade. This yarn is not very soft and feels slightly scratchy. I was hoping it would soften after it was washed - it did not. Also, there were so multiple knots in many of the skeins so I was constantly stopping and starting And needing to weave in ends. As a result, I cannot recommend this.
I bought this because it was the recommended yarn for a pattern book I bought, Knitted Animal Friends. It knits up wonderfully and creates the most delightful little toys for my kids.
