Jimmy's May 2017 Micro-Brew - Knitterly Things Vesper Sock yarn
The fifth installment of Jimmy's Micro-Brew subscription has us gearing up for sweet summertime and all of the knitting that we'll be doing outdoors. This month we're featuring the wonderful Vesper Sock yarn by Knitterly Things, and this color is sure to be a real crowd-pleaser!
Hand-dyed by color connoisseur Julie Vesper, the Vesper Sock base is Knitterly Things' most popular yarn and is truly a staple yarn for socks. Julie named this exclusively dyed color "Big Sky," and she intricately chose a color scheme that embodies all the colors found in the sky as the day fades into night. With radiant teal, electric blue, and warm burgundy tones throughout the skein, this color produces a stunning contrasting combination that will leave all fiber lovers weak at the knees. This color also has self-striping repeats, perfect for a pair of socks or other projects that work up well with a striping design.
This version of the Vesper Sock yarn is a superwash merino wool and nylon blend, ideal for strong and washable socks that the whole family can enjoy. With the self-striping color design, the opportunities to create with this yarn are endless. Are you new to knitting socks? The Knitting Pure and Simple Beginner's Lightweight Sock pattern would be a perfect option to test out this yarn! For those of you who are well-versed with your sock knitting skills, we absolutely adore the Fruit Stripe Gum Socks pattern by Leah Oakley on Ravelry. If you're not in the mood for socks but still want to play around with some color, we think this yarn would also look beautiful worked up with another yarn from your stash to create the Daybreak shawl by Stephen West.
Each skein comes with its own coordinating project bag so you can zip up and store your knitted goodies in style!

Jimmy's April 2017 Micro-Brew - Miss Babs Hot Shot Fingering
The fourth month of the Jimmy's Micro-Brewed subscription has us burning up with excitement! This month's installment features the Hot Shot fingering yarn from Miss Babs, and this color is sure to add some sassy, spicy, and sizzling color tones onto your knitting needles.
The fabulous ladies at Miss Babs are known for deriving their color inspiration from things in nature and natural phenomena. Feeling recently inspired by all of the colors found in fire, they are really bringin' the heat with this month's exclusively dyed color, which they named "Fired Up." They made sure to incorporate a bunch of color variation during the dyeing process because they envisioned every skein having its own unique color scheme to represent all of the tones found in fire. Some skeins are red hot with deeper burgundy, orange, and pink tones, and some include streaks of blue and seafoam green, as you would observe by looking at the base of a flame.
The Hot Shot base is a luscious and soft fingering weight yarn, composed primarily of superwash merino wool with a hint of nylon to add to its durability. This yarn would work up fabulously into a pair of cozy socks, and we think the Ardelis socks by Corrina Ferguson would be a wonderful option for this yarn to display its enchanting colors. If you're in the mood for a quick and light shawl, the Pesto shawl by Freckles and Purls would be an excellent one-skein project to whip up. Or, knit up a set of the adorable Austin Boot Liners and Mitts by Pam Powers Knits for some fun new accessories to add to your wardrobe!
Each skin comes with its own coordinating project bag and this month we decided to switch up its fabric and design a bit, utilizing a thicker canvas material. We also added a zipper for additional security.
