October is the season to enjoy apple cider, crackling fires, and delightfully creepy literature - after all, Halloween is right around the corner, and who better to celebrate with this month's Micro-Brewed Series than the Master of Horror, Stephen King?! With over 50 novels and 200 short stories to his name, he's earned a place on your bookshelf and your yarn - and this month's dyers certainly agree! |

A cautionary tale about the dangers of human experimentation it may be, but King's Firestarter was also the inspiration for a gorgeous colorway from Sunshine Yarns! Their Firestarter is a sizzling mix of deep reds, fiery oranges, and charred blacks splattered on a creamy base - we don't even need to use "the push" to convince you it would look hot in a shawlette or pair of fingerless mitts: just check out the Colorblock Handwarmers our Cassidy knit! The fingering-weight Classic Sock base is great for just about anything you could imagine, and it looks equally beautiful with this month's Loops Knitting sister color, Soot! For more flamingly fantastic colorways, visit the Sunshine Yarns website! |

There's not much creepier than a group of topiary animals suddenly coming to life (well, unless you count whatever's in Room 217), and Jill Draper has captured just that with her colorway this month, inspired by The Shining! Creepiest Topiary is a haunting blend of eerie greens on a chilling gray base that's just perfect for a cowl or scarf to snuggle up around your neck! Leanne made a slightly shorter version of the Honeycomb Mesh Scarf from Churchmouse, and while we can't guarantee it'll keep the goosebumps away while she's reading, at least she'll look stylish! And how fitting that what may be the most popular American horror story is paid tribute with a 100% American Merino Wool like delicious Esopus?! All 500 yards are ready to lend themselves to some serious knitting - but just don't take your eyes off it, okay? For more supernaturally gorgeous colorways, check out the Jill Draper Makes Stuff Etsy shop! |

You know what they say about misery: it loves company - in this case, a batch of strangely beautiful yarn! Even difficult-to-please Annie Wilkes would approve of Tink Yarn's masterpiece this month, inspired by the novel Misery: Dyeabolical is a spine-chilling tombstone gray splashed with blood red and bruise purple, dyed on the springy merino/nylon Plain Sock base! It would look alarmingly gorgeous in Chris' asymmetrical Decay Shawlette, and oh-so-fitting for that Halloween party! Kidnap your own skein and get to knitting - you'll soon be this color's number one fan! |

 | The perfect antidote to a scary story? A relaxing bath! Our friends at Black Rock Mud enjoy a creepy tale as much as the next person, but when it comes to delicious, skin-softening soap, they really know their stuff! This month's special notion, Rose Glow Mud Soap, uses natural Illite clay from the Black Rock Desert to balance and smooth dry skin while leaving it lightly scented and radiant! |
