We've been brewing up more than just great color with the Micro-Brewed Series: won't you join us for a spot of tea, and good book by Jane Austen, and some savory yarn? The dyers this month (all new to the series!) have drawn inspiration from their favorite Austen novels and characters, and we hope you'll be just as inspired to create something beautiful with them! |

Probably Austen's most famous novel, Pride and Prejudice is full of emotions, misunderstandings, and secret passions - talk about an old-fashioned blanket burner! The folks at Bumblebirch created a color to rival the fiery personality of the novel's main character: Miss Elizabeth Bennet is a powerful and passionate blend of oranges and yellows that yells from the rooftops, "I am a formidable opponent in life and love!" Dyed on the springy merino and nylon Heartwood base, the generous 463 yards of this fingering-weight beauty are perfect for a simple shoulder-warmer like the Don't Panic Wrap by MerryClusters - any of the Miss Bennets would approve (well, except that Lydia - the trollop!)!

Sometimes, great passions are better off restrained, or so Austen teaches in her first novel, Sense and Sensibility. The dyers at Ancient Arts Fibre must agree, because they've translated Elinor Dashwood's self-possessed nature into a mutedly beautiful colorway that calls to mind calm afternoons with tea and biscuits by the fire. By a Lady (a nod to the anonymous publication of the novel) is a subtle but lovely melange of neutral grays and browns with swirls of creamy ecru, just like rich cream poured into tea. We love it on the Fingering/Sock base, a balanced blend of merino and nylon that will hold up to any kind of wear! Try it for a cozy pair of Dinar Slippers by Andrea Rangel and keep your feet toasty while you sip and read, or grab a skein like Deb did to knit up a lacy cowl like the one pictured!
Visit the Ancient Arts Fibre website for gorgeous yarns, fiber blends, and more! |

Matchmaker, matchmaker, make me a...gorgeous new color of yarn! Sundara Yarn has done just that: to commemorate the cunning cupid of Austen's humorous novel Emma, they've brewed up a batch of beautiful yarn in a dusky, rosy pink shade! Aptly named Blushing Emma, it's the perfect expression of our heroine's embarrassment at her many matchmaking blunders. But just like in the novel, all ends well: the 492 yards in each generous skein of fingering-weight merino wool will make a wonderful wrap or shawl! How about the Purless by Romi Hill? It's a yarn and pattern match made in heaven!
Head on over to the Sundara Yarn website for more stunning colorways!
