As soon as the air turns crisp, there's nothing we love to do as much as snuggle down in our favorite spot with our knitting... unless it's snuggling up with a good book instead! Maybe it's the cool air, the darker days, or that annual spirit of back-to-school that makes us want to slow down and study the page, but the call of a good book is just irresistible! And so are this month's Micro-Brewed
yarns: we've teamed up with three new indie dyers for a literary-inspired collection that we think you'll agree is quite novel (wink!)!
Whether you buy them, borrow them, or download them, here are a few favorites from some of our Beans to refresh your reading list this fall:

| Sometimes favorite novels offer even more layers of meaning as you grow older and read them again and again; at least that's how Kate and Rachel of A Hundred Ravens feel about their childhood favorite, The Wizard of Oz! In fact, they've curated an entire collection around this fantastical and fabulous novel, and we were lucky enough to snag a limited number of skeins of "The Wizard" as a sneak peek! |
In the springy, soft, and superwash, DK-weight Aesir base, this heavenly mix of stormy blues and brick-road-yellows will have you singing - and skipping to your needles to knit up the special design that Rachel from A Hundred Ravens has devised to show it off! The simple and beautiful 'The Wizard' Shawl uses just 2 skeins and is available as a kit with everything you need to get started!

| We may be mad as hatters about yarn, but we're clearheaded enough to see when one is truly wonderful: check out Hudson from Jill Draper Makes Stuff!
These squishy, worsted-weight, superwash merino wool skeins are made in the USA and are just blissful to touch - all 240 yards of them!
Jill was inspired by one of her favorite books, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, which she always keeps on her nightstand as a go-to book to read on sleepless nights.
|
She created a delightfully dreamy blend of briny blues, sea greens, and cloudy purples and greys that call to mind the scene where Alice grows to giant size and cries an ocean of tears. Fittingly called "Alice Adrift", this lovely colorway is sure to add a touch of whimsy to whatever you knit; how about a gorgeous Drift Shawl by Tin Can Knits?!?!
If this gorgeous color wasn't enough, the team over at Loops worked with Jill to develop two additional gorgeous colors in Hudson this month! They have on hand Tulsa Hills and Red Sky Over Red Dirt, their two limited edition colors, plus a coordinating solid called Sand, shown here knit up as the Eternal Japarta Cowl. All of these colors can be found over on the Loops Website! (And don't forget to check out their other Micro-Brewed Colors while you are at it!)
If, like us, you've gone down the rabbit hole over this amazing yarn, head over to Jill's Etsy Shop for more! |

| Equal parts rich history and beautiful imagination, Arthur Golden's Memoirs of a Geisha is a tapestry of storytelling that pulls the reader in and holds on until the very end. It's no wonder that the ladies at Vocabulary Yarn chose this novel as their inspiration for the imaginative array of colors called Obi, inspired by the detailed sashes worn by geisha over their kimonos. Dyed on their unique Maven base, a thick-and-thin Aran-weight blend of wool, mohair, and glittery fibers that reflect the gorgeous colors, this one-of-a-kind brew is sure to leave you thirsty for more! |
Nell Zaroli of Nellknits was so inspired by it, she created the stunning Little Houses Cowl to really show it off! So grab your copy of the pattern on Ravelry and whip up your own creation - just be prepared for compliments!

| It's no mystery that the special Stitch Marker Pouches from Chicken Boots are both adorable and indispensable - you don't have to be a Sherlock to figure that out! But you can be with this month's limited edition design: a Sherlock Holmes pouch inspired by the shrewd sleuth of Baker Street, and the hero of some of Saremy's favorite novels! |
And that's not all: Saremy is a huge Harry Potter fan, and she's gearing up for Halloween with a little more wizardry from Hogwarts! Keep all of your notions, doo-dads, or spare change in one of these adorable Hogwarts-themed pouches - back for another round of magical fun!
