We didn't need to travel far for July's Micro-Brewed Series theme: just to the living room couch! We asked this month's hand-dyers to pay homage to their favorite TV shows, and we love what they came up with - even if you've never watched any of these small-screen specials, you'll want to now! And since they're all available through Netflix, you can watch them all while you knit (psst... exactly how many episodes you watch at once will be our little secret, mmmkay?)!
July Bonus! Knitter's Pride has teamed up with designer Laura Chau for a fun summer Knit Along using Laura's Just Enough Ruffles Light scarf pattern. A versatile one-skein fingering weight yarn project (that would look fabulous in any of our current or past Micro-brewed colors!), this KAL kicks off on Ravelry and the Knitter's Pride blog this Friday, July 24th! Get 25% off the pattern now through the end of the month using coupon code neckwearKAL15 at checkout on Ravelry, and all you have left is to cast on!

| Amy of Canon Hand Dyes, based out of Portland, Oregon, has a soft spot for Arrested Development - and who can blame her? Quirky characters - many of them real-life comedians - get up to ridiculous antics that take unexpected (and hilarious) turns. We were hooked at the first episode, and you'll be hooked on Amy's yarn: Keep Tobias Blue is a gorgeous gradient colorway that shifts from light turquoise to deep cobalt blue, reminiscent of the body paint one of the characters dons for several episodes. |
These 460-yard balls of fingering-weight Superwash Merino and Nylon would make any project look amazing; just imagine an ombre version of the Artesian Shawl! And they even come with a "Keep Tobias Blue" sticker, a riff on the "Keep Tahoe Blue" movement - near and dear to our hearts! |

If you haven't watched Portlandia, head for the TV set now - you'll thank us later! This tongue-in-cheek, sketch-comedy send-up to the City of Roses pokes gentle fun at the many characters you might find there, including a couple of happy hipsters who get a bit overzealous about their home canning. Lorajean from Knitted Wit (creator of the instantly-sold-out PDX Carpet colorway) imagined her July installment, We Can Pickle That!, as a mélange of marvelous hues that represents the rainbow of pickled veggies (among other things) you might find in the nearest mason jar.
And Loops, our friends in Tulsa, have canned the perfect partner: We Can Jam That!, an equally colorful tribute to homemade jam! Both colors are dyed in vivacious Victory Sock, an 80/20 blend of Superwash Merino and Nylon perfect for socks, shawls, and everything in between. The stitch work in the Amelie Socks even looks a bit like pickles! Hungry yet? |

| When we asked for her favorite TV show, Jennifer from Holiday Yarns didn't even hesitate: Gilmore Girls! This sweet and sentimental show following the growing pains of a single mom and her daughter was one of our favorites, too - we always wanted to visit Stars Hollow, the fictional small town it was set in, and that's exactly what inspired Jennifer's color: Stars Hollow Blues! The soft shades of periwinkle and baby blue echo the sleepy, restful feel of the tiny town, along with the gorgeous blue eyes that Lorelei and Rory Gilmore shared! In Flocksock Fingering, a well-balanced and soft blend of Merino Wool and Nylon, this elegant shade would look just beautiful in a simple crescent shawl like the Vittorio by Corrina Ferguson! |
Just imagine yourself wearing it to Luke's Diner - you'd be the talk of the town! And for more Holiday Yarns, check out Jennifer's deliciously plump Wooley Ewe Worsted in Fuchsia Fusion! Yum! |

Now you can say for certain: there's always money in the Banana Stand! That is, when you stash your cash in the Arrested Development-inspired Banana Stand Stitch Marker Pouch from Chicken Boots - it's a perfect tribute to one of the silliest scenes from the show! | The second pouch this month may not be TV-related, but it's an extra-special tribute to a big-screen character who's a cult favorite: Harry Potter! Saremy created the Mischief Managed pouches to commemorate Harry's birthday this month, and they're so clever, we're in the mood for any mischief imaginable! |
