No matter how you feel about that old holiday staple, fruitcake, you're sure to fire up your sweet tooth for some Dried Fruit! This juicy color packs all the flavor of the fruits of summer for a bit of brightness in the bleak of winter, and we thought it made the perfect after-meal treat to round out our Tasty Tosh 2015 Series! The ripe reds, luscious purples, and vivid golds and oranges are just the recipe you need for busting any winter blues, and what better way to do it than with delicious wool? Try a skein of Tosh Vintage in this scrumptious color for Kristen's Stollen Mitts; inspired by her favorite holiday treat made with dried fruit, compliments of her family's German heritage. The pattern is free with purchase of one skein in the Dried Fruit color, or just $1 on Ravelry for the next month! Just try not to nibble on your hands!
Speaking of hands, pamper them a little with this month's limited edition item from Black Rock Mud: a Chocolate Truffle Soap that smells as decadent as it lathers. Yum!
And even though this is the last installment of this year's Tasty Tosh Series, never fear: we'll be back with a new theme next year!

The New Year is upon us (yikes!) and with it the start of the final Downton Abbey Mystery Knit-a-Long! Not only that, but for this final season, we've added a Crochet-a-long so that all of our favorite fiber fanatics can participate! We have yarn-only kits available (including the special Downton color this year - Yorkshire Skies!), and don't forget to head over to Ravelry to purchase the Knit pattern from Marinade Designs or the Crochet pattern from Leawesome! You can download the materials list and gauge info immediately and the first "clue" of the mystery shawl project will be released on January 3rd. We can't wait to kick off this fun Downton-inspired event! It's sure to be our best yet! |

Love the look of the Stollen Mitts (pictured above) in the Dried Fruit Tosh color, but not confident in your knitting-in-the-round skills just yet? Let us tell you - you CAN do it, and we can help you get started! Knitting-in-the-round is a great basic skill to learn once you are comfortable with knitting and purling, and it's great for knitting hats, mitts, cowls, sweaters, socks - you name it! Our video on how to join knitting-in-the-round shows you the basics of how to get started knitting in the round, and this method works for double points AND circular needles! Thinking about joining in on the Downton Abbey MKAL fun, too? This technique is also going to be used in that MKAL, so it's great to get some practice in now if this is a new skill for you! |

It's the equivalent of New Year's resolutions for us crafters: we're queuing up our knitting and crochet projects for next year!
We've got some great ideas, thanks to the latest books and magazines to hit the shop: | Free Spirit Knits by Anne Podlesak is a fount of inspiration with a Southwestern slant: just one look at the Tres Flores Shawl and you'll be planning your color palette and itching to cast on! And the Three Sisters Shawl is just as gorgeous, with an intriguing inspiration based in Native American folklore. Each and every pattern in this thoughtful book is absolutely imbued with artistry! |
It's an ombre overture: the Ombre Cowl and Fingerless Mitts from Marlaina Bird's Cold Weather Crochet! Or, how about the simple but beautiful Linen Stitch Scarf? From snuggly accessories to keep out the chill to inviting afghans made for sharing, you won't have to worry about winter at all with this book - just cozy up with those crochet hooks and wait for spring!
| Courtney Spainhower knows that knitters love to keep their families warm - what's more special than seeing loved ones sport the garments and accessories you knit with your own two hands? Not much, in our opinion! Family Friendly Knits is full of gems: the adorable Grain Hood for the little ones, the elegant Summer Lace Pullover, and the warm and welcoming Dart Shawl, to name just a few! |
For one-of-a-kind pieces from the most cutting-edge designers, check out the latest Pom Pom Quarterly; the Deco City Shawl and the Avalon Ballroom Scarf may have been inspired by Art Deco motifs, but they'd be right at home on the runways at Fashion Week! And the Theda Cowl is the ultimate essential for chilly nights on the town: it's small enough to fit in a purse, but will keep you warm as you hop from club to club!
| More of a homebody than a party animal? Hannah Fettig's Home & Away has you covered with classic, elegant garments that are the epitome of comfort, whether you're tucked in by the fire or traveling the globe. The Georgetown, Hancock, and Boothbay Cardigans just ooze coziness, and each is worthy of wardrobe-staple status! Best of all, each pattern includes instructions for seamless or seamed construction, so you can pick your favorite method! |
The winter issue of Noro Knitting Magazine is here and it's packed with color! From the quick and easy Chunky Crocheted Beanie to the elegant Mitered Wrap, the gorgeous shades of Noro yarns are sure to add brightness to these gray winter days! But there are a couple of marvelous monochromes too: the Man's Jacket in Silk Garden Solo is all about texture and structure, and man, is it handsome! (The sweater. We're talking about the sweater.)

We're thrilled to have these gorgeous carry-alls back in stock, and they're already going fast - and it's no wonder! The Quinn Bag has plenty of pockets, perfect for stashing your crafting notions or a multitude of necessities like lipstick, spare change, candy... you name it! It even has a detachable pouch inside! The Cora Bag is great for you digital pattern lovers: it's big enough to hold your tablet, so you can carry your pattern stash with you everywhere! Best of all, you can carry it as a satchel over your arm, attach the included strap to carry it over your shoulder, or even detach the front pocket to use as a clutch or evening bag! Finally, grab the Crafter's Tool Butler to keep your needles and hooks handy - with organizing tabs and a needle inventory chart, it's a must-have!
