When you play the Game of Thrones, you win or you... don't win, and knit yourself something fabulous instead! If only, right? I'm sure one of our favorite characters on the hit HBO series feels that way: Tyrion Lannister may be part of a particularly ruthless family, but he has a heart of gold! That's why he inspired April's Lorna's Laces Limited Edition Color, named Casterly Rock after his family home. It's a bold mix of burgundy, blood red, and gold to represent the Lannister house colors - and we predict that Tyrion and the rest of the (remaining) Lannisters will continue to play important roles in the upcoming 5th season, starting April 12th! To go along with this great color, Kristen has another Game of Thrones Mystery Knit-Along planned for you! It will use three skeins of the newest Lorna's Laces base, Cloudgate - a bulky-weight blend of merino wool and nylon perfect for machine-washable accessories and garments that will stand the test of time. Kristen will release the first clue on Ravelry on May 3rd, coinciding with the 4th episode of the new season, so as not to overlap with the Standing Stones Mystery Knit-Along, which begins April 4th and runs through May 2nd.
So many of you are fans of both shows and want to participate in both KALs, we did our best to make it easier for you! | Before you start, pick up a Game of Thrones MKAL Kit - it includes the pattern download code for just $3! For those of you who shy away from the super variegated colorways but want to partcipate in the MKAL too, we made up kits in some of our favorite regular stock colors as well that have less color variation. And don't forget to add a set of coordinating Spark Stitch Markers for extra Game of Thrones-y-ness... they even include a Lannister Lion! |

It's almost here - our favorite holiday: Mother's Day! Looking to get ahead on gorgeous gifts for the notable nurturer in your life? Look to Knitter's Pride! They've got more than just needles: we're fully stocked on their complete line of notions and accessories, so you're sure to find something special, even for that lady who has everything! Here are some ways you can show her you care: | Stick a Pin In It! Help her keep her gorgeous creations on her shoulders with the help of an equally gorgeous Shawl Stick. Crafted from naturally beautiful Symfonie wood, there's a design to fit any taste. Or get colorful with one of our many Shawl Pins - these top-quality wood pieces are fun and functional! For something truly unique, go with one of the Exotica Shawl Pins - they're sure to garner plenty of compliments! |
| Bag It Up! Help her get her tools organized with a Thames Handmade Faux Leather Bag! These handy totes have beaucoup de pockets - plenty of room to organize all of your interchangeable needle tips and cords, circular knitting needles, crochet hooks, double point needles, notions, bits, and bobs, all in a sleek silhouette that's smaller than a piece of notebook paper! Or perhaps she'd like a clutch-style organizer? We've got fifteen! Choose from Fixed Circular, Interchangeable, Crochet Hook, or Assorted Needle cases, or a generously-sized Tote Bag, in three different mix-and-match designs! |
| Get a Handle on Things! Nothing puts the finishing touch on a beautiful, hand-knitted or crocheted bag like the perfect handle, and Knitter's Pride has one to match every bag you could imagine! Choose from Genuine Leatherhandles with or without hooks in attractive natural colors, or Faux Leather handles in two styles in both natural and fun colored finishes. |
| Block It Out! Make finishing a breeze with some handy blocking tools: Blocking Mats are essential parts of any crafter's toolkit - no more pinning out wet wool on the bed to dry (you know we've all done it)! These interlocking foam blocks can be combined in a variety of ways to fit any project, and they hold onto T-Pins with ease! |
Bringing out the best in an intricate lace pattern has never been easier than with Lace Blocking Wires - just slip them through the edges of your project, hold in place with the included pins, and let dry to perfection! Or skip individual pins altogether and opt for the ingenious Knit Blockers instead. And for socks, a good pair of Sock Blockers is indispensable for getting a good fit and making those patterns really pop! | Hold It, Buster! Don't let that paper pattern get away from you - keep it neat, unwrinkled, and easy to read with Magma Pattern Holders! Available in large and small sizes, these clever holders keep your pattern in place with magnets that also serve as place-keepers: just place one on the line you're working from, and you'll go back to it without searching! |
When you're finished, fold the pattern holder shut and snap it to keep that pattern nice and snug until you're ready to go back to it. And never lose one in the bottom of your knitting bag again! | Mark It Well! Keep track of your stitches and fancy up your knitting with Zooni Stitch Markers! Each lovely set comes with 2 small and 1 large marker made with beautiful beads, plus a handy tapestry needle. |
They're economical enough to try all the gorgeous designs... let's face it, you can never have too many stitch markers! |

An avid knitter/designer/yarn-o-holic, Kristen knows all things fibery (ok, maybe not all, but pretty close to it!). She's got a constant rotation of yarn on her desk for "stash consideration" and has been known to shed a tear or two of joy when handling a particularly stunning new yarn. Needless to say, she has a nose for the good stuff! And because it's her birthday tomorrow, April 1st (no foolin'!), we asked her to pick out some of her most recent favorites to share!
| Well, this is an obvious one... it's nearly Kristen's birthday and she'd love to receive a bouquet of yarn (quick, someone tell her hubby!). The April Swans Island Birthstone Bouquet is just the ticket: 5 skeins of delicious Swans Island EcoWash DK (in the large bouquet; 3 skeins come in the small size) in the beautiful Dove color to represent the April diamond birthstone, plus matching Anna Bee Stitch Markers and a pattern for the lovely Silver Birch Cowl. What more could any birthday girl ask for? |
| Have you gotten a Curl around your neck yet? No?!? Well, hop to - Hunter Hammersen has created a whole book of them to choose from! Each of the 14 gorgeous patterns in Curls is built as an elongated triangle (with many variations), resulting in beautiful, wearable small scarf-shawls that curl gently around the neck and hug the shoulders without needing pins, sticks, or acrobatics to keep them in place! Best of all, each can be knit up at any gauge and in any yarn! Kristen loves them because they're fully customizable and perfect for using up those "special" single skeins that are languishing in her stash! |
| When it comes to the ultimate in luxury fibers, the Road to China yarns from The Fibre Company have it all: the sumptuously soft blend of baby alpaca, camel, cashmere, and silk is one you'll never want to take your hands off of! Kristen has already been cuddling up with new Road to China Lace - all 656 yards of its squishy, silky goodness! She's coveting every color: the ultra-rich hues make it hard to decide on just one. The patterns that go with it are just as gorgeous! |
| Pom poms are fun for all ages - did you ever see an unhappy person with a pom pom? Didn't think so. Knitter's Pride has the perfect tool to have you spinning out pom poms of all sizes in a wink: the Rejoice Pom Pom Maker! Kristen says, "I am super into pom poms right now (and Olive loves them, too!!!), which is why this 4-size pack from Knitter's Pride is perfect. It allows me to make them in any size I want!" And you should, Kristen, you should. Just be sure to share them with us! We'll stick them on our Dull Roar hats - the Zam Hat, Rocket Pop, and A Most Bespeckled Hat are just a few that are calling out to be pommed! |
| Kristen is in love with new Juniper Moon Farm Neve, a worsted-weight, chainette-construction, 100% cotton yarn perfect for summer garments and home items. The special construction gives this yarn extra ventilation for breezy, light finished projects that will keep you cool this summer! Kristen especially loves the Stria Collection by Pamela Wynne, which features the beautiful color palette of Neve along with a homey, vintage feel. Just check out the Old Shale Kitchen Towel & Potholder (and potholder!) to give your kitchen a retro update or the stripy fun Campbell Shawl perfect accessorizing in the heat of summer! |

Sublime is a brand well-known for their dedication to the highest-quality yarns using the most luxurious fibers. The new moms among us treasure the handknits for our little ones using Sublime yarns and patterns, knowing they'll be soft on baby's delicate skin and they'll stay beautiful for years to come! And now, we've got not only the old AND new colors of your favorites, but also have a few brand-new yarns to celebrate, plus plenty of stunning pattern books to get you knitting up a storm! | You already love Sublime Baby Cashmere Merino Silk DK for baby clothing, blankets, and toys, but the new, expanded color palette ensures that this yarn is not just for babies!
With vibrant, lush hues along with the traditional muted baby colors, there are now over 30 to choose from: try the adorable Mabel Cardigan or the Lily Cardigan (perfect for layering over all of those Easter dresses!). |
Next up, a few new yarns that will have you clamoring to cast on: Superfine Alpaca DK is a sumptuously soft, 100% alpaca yarn specially spun in Peru. You may associate alpaca with winter warmth, but did you know it's also used in warm weather to keep the wearer cool? That's right - the natural fibers are hollow, so they're both breathable and moisture-wicking - amazing!
We've also got some tweedy goodness for you: Luxurious Aran Tweed is a beautiful blend of wool, cotton, and velvety baby llama with the signature flecked look of soft-spun tweed, and wool/cotton Luxurious Tweed DK is dyed in gorgeous colors inspired by the Argentinian landscape! You'll love the casual All About Ease Pullover in this stunning tweed. All this luxury might have your head spinning, but rest assured, we also have some Natural Aran, a good, strong, worsted weight wool spun in Yorkshire, England to bring you back down to earth! | Finally, their cottons and cotton blends take the cake: Cotton Silk DK combines high-quality combed cotton with luxurious silk for a light and airy yarn with plenty of drape to make garments look fabulous (pictured left is Leanne wearing the Studio Day Cardie in Cotton Silk DK from Sublime Booklet 685). |

Cascade Souk Closeouts - 50% off! Self-striping yarns hold a special place in any knitter's heart: not only do we love seeing the colors unfold as we knit, the finished product always looks fabulous and unlike anything you can buy in a store! It's with a pang of sadness we're offering the last of the Cascade Souk at 50% off - this soft, tweedy blend of wool and silk has been discontinued, and once it's gone, it's gone. Use it for a fabulously colorful cowl and wow the masses with your knitting skills (shhh... we don't have to tell everyone how easy it was)! Debbie Bliss Angel Print - 50% off! It's not every day you find such a great deal on such an amazing and versatile yarn, but today must be a lucky one! Debbie Bliss Angel Print is a luxuriously soft, super kid mohair and silk blend that knits up into light and lovely projects with a delicious halo - use it for ethereal shawls and scarves, or simple pullovers that can be layered over tank tops for the "ballet" look! Or, to give other yarns a fluffy boost, use it as a carry-along yarn in hats, cowls, and mitts - you'll end up with an extra warm, slightly fuzzy finish with subtle color variation. Heavenly! Plymouth Essex - 40% off! Chunky sweaters, cowls, and scarves have been all the rage this year - we've seen them all over, on the runway and off! Plymouth Essex yarn will have you wearing some in no time - this pure wool, super-bulky beauty is just waiting to be made up into warm and snuggly ear warmers, hats, capelets, and more. Its unique construction, featuring one bulky, variegated strand plied with a much finer, solid-color strand, knits up into a thick fabric that's both subtly striped and marled. Just look at the Plymouth Essex Hooded Scarf - fun to knit, fun to wear! Tosh Onesies - from 15% off! They're going, but not quite gone: grab some while you can! We have an especially colorful batch this time (in fact, we've had to come up with new names for some of them!), so take full advantage of all that hand-dyed beauty by stocking your stash! These one-of-a-kind skeins might not have matched the rest of the batch in the dye pot, but they're just as beautiful, and they'd be perfect for one-skein projects, like baby sweaters or hats, or projects with multiple colors that won't be affected by mismatched skeins. We have them in almost all of our Madelinetosh bases: Tosh Merino Light, Tosh Sport, Tosh Sock, Home, Tosh DK, Pashmina, Tosh Vintage, and more! Sirdar Closeouts - 50% off! Stock up on Sirdar with this amazing sale! Folksong Chunky will take your hats and accessories to the ultimate level of bulky bliss, with a colorful flair that will make you want to tie ribbons to your guitar and roam the countryside singing! Just don't forget the accompanying pattern book. Rafaella is a nubbly, textural wonder: plies of cotton and acrylic are wrapped with a fine thread, giving the yarn and almost boucle-like texture, and there are some great patterns to match! Simply Recycled Aran shows us just how fun recycled cotton yarns can be, and Summer Stripes DK will put a touch of colorful fun in all of your summer knitting! Grab them before they're gone for good! |
