Available now by popular vote, we have the 3rd Exclusive Tailor-made Tosh colorway from Madelinetosh - Blue Jean Baby! We posted the above photo on Facebook and Instagram about a month back asking all of you to weigh in on which one you liked best. Of the 530+ votes we received, 346 voted for this lovely shade of blue! It reminds us of that favorite pair of ripped and faded blue jeans, and we couldn't help quoting Elton John in this homage to America's favorite wardrobe staple, "Blue Jean Baby!" (Those of you who fell in love with the runner-up color, don't worry, we'll be releasing that beautiful melange of browns later this year...) To accompany this gorgeous colorway, Spark! has created another custom set of exquisite stitch markers to coordinate with the subtle variations of Blue Jean Baby. And of course we had to arrange a few bouquets featuring this exclusive colorway and 2 complementary colors in Tosh Merino Light and Dandelion. (Bonus: each bouquet comes with a download code for the Ripple Effect Shawl by Rachel Roden of Unraveled Designs!)
"Blue Jean Baby" is now available in every weight of Madelinetosh we carry (including the new Dandelion yarn). Be sure to snag some of this limited edition color for an upcoming project before it disappears!

Yarn not mom's thing? If that is the case, one of our fabric bouquets may be right up her alley! We've created a number of adorable fabric bouquets using fat quarter cuts of some of our favorite fabrics from designers like Amy Butler, Kaffe Fassett, and more! If you've got a mom who enjoys the whir of a sewing machine more than the click-clack of knitting needles, then this is the perfect gift for her this Mother's Day!

 JBW Project Bags - '14 May - Fire and Blood - Estonia $9.00 |
The fabrics for these Hand Made Project Bags were hand-picked to coordinate with the Lorna's Limited Edition '14 May colorway, Fire and Blood. Inspired by the words of House Targaryen from the popular book series and TV show, Game of Thrones, these project bags come in various shades of rich, royal pinks chosen from Ty Pennington's Impressions collection, and beautifully complement Lorna's Fire and Blood colorway. Be sure to check them all out for toting around your crafty projects like the Game of Thrones Mystery KAL! | Shibui Pebble - 2018 Bordeaux $16.95 | Shibui Pebble is made from a trio of favorite fibers: cashmere, fine merino, and recycled silk. They combine to create a tweedy fingering-weight yarn that you'll love working with! Shibui has recently expanded their selection of colors for Pebble so now you have even more options. Can't decide what to knit with this luscious yarn? Check out the Shibui Mix numbers 25 & 28! Mix #25 is a cozy but light cardigan knit with two strands of Pebble held together, while Mix #28 is a gorgeous vest that uses Pebble and Cima, for a light and summery garment! | Madelinetosh Dandelion - Purple Basil $22.00 | Madelinetosh Dandelion is a great springtime alternative to the ever-popular Tosh Merino Light. Dandelion is a fingering-weight blend of 90% merino wool and 10% linen, which gives it a more breathable texture for lightweight knits. The linen also adds a touch of soft heathering to the yarn for that highly sought-after rustic appearance. Best of all, it comes in a wide range of beautiful hand-dyed colors so there's one to suit your every mood. Can't choose just one? Pick 3 of your favorites and knit the Ripple Effect Shawl by our very own Rachel of Unraveled Designs! The pattern is available for download on Ravelry. | Knit.Wear Magazine- '14 Spring $14.99 | Knit.Wear Magazine from Interweave Press always seems to be the height of fashion with its unique designs and sophisticated look. The Spring/Summer 2014 issue is no exception! This issue features tons of great looks for spring and summer in seasonally appropriate yarns. Whether you're looking for elegant layers to keep away the spring chill or something casual for a trip to the beach, you are sure to find something you love in this issue! | Superior Threads King Tut Quilting Thread - 916 - Mummy's Dearest $8.99 | King Tut Quilting Thread from Superior Threads will change your quilting life! King Tut is an extremely low lint, extra-long staple Egyptian-grown cotton thread ideal for quilting projects big and small. The low lint means that the thread will fuzz less when you use it, which allows for more time quilting and less time cleaning your machine. Try it once and you'll want to use it for every project! And with their wide range of lightly variegated colors, there's sure to be a thread to match. | Alana Dakos - Botanical Knits 2 (Pre-order) $22.00 | Alana Dakos, a favorite designer around these parts, is about to wow us with her second Botanical Knits collection! If you loved her previous book, Botanical Knits, you are sure to adore the second installment. Alana's designs are truly one-of-a-kind, featuring classic knits with unique elements inspired by nature. We can't wait to see the designs in Botanical Knits 2, and if you can't either, be sure to pre-order your copy. We'll ship it the moment we have it in stock! |

We are absolutely in love with these yarns from Juniper Moon Farm. The original Findley as well as the new Findley Dappled have become popular choices for lace-weight projects like the Lace Gloves because of its luscious 50/50 merino wool and silk composition, available in a rich spectrum of colors. Not to mention for around $30 you get nearly 800 yards of this incredibly yarn!! Fans and newcomers alike will also enjoy the new Findley DK, which has the same scrumptious blend of wool and silk but knits up at a heavier gauge. Of course it has amazing pattern support as well -one of our favs is the amazing Madaket Cardigan. The simple lace pattern that edges the fronts, sleeves, and hem of this sweater combined with the subtle sheen of the Findley DK make this a cardigan that can be dressed up or down for any occasion.
We're also thrilled to introduce Herriot, a lovely DK weight baby alpaca that comes in a range of natural and heathery colors. This irresistible yarn knits up with a lovely drape and halo that absolutely shines when used for accessories like the Winnekenni Beret. Last but not least is Moonshine Trios, a dreamy, single-ply blend of wool, alpaca, and silk dyed in lightly variegated shades making it a multi-colored cousin to the original Moonshine yarn. The subtle variation in color between the three fibers gives the yarn a soft, heathered appearance which is great for adding interest to knits like the Amalthea Cowl. Whichever yarn and project you choose, it's sure to be a new favorite!
 | Be sure to keep your eyes on the Wool Watcher this Wednesday, May 7th, for some unbeatable opportunities to give these amazing yarns a try at a great price! |

Sharon's Tunisian Crochet Chevron Scarf | Sharon was helping a customer in retail one day who was crocheting this scarf and then decided to make one for herself as well! This scarf pattern came from our Crochet Red book and uses a Tunisian Crochet technique that Sharon says is super easy and lots of fun! She used Cascade's Hollywood yarn instead of the Muench Touch Me that the pattern calls for, mainly because she wanted something that would only take one skein. The result is a fun and glittery scarf that is perfect to give as a gift or make for yourself. Nice work Sharon! |
Leanne's Cheerio Necklace | Leanne wanted to try out some more knitted jewelry, so she chose Laura Nelkin's Cheerio Necklace Kit and immediately cast on. She says that jewelry is fun because it takes up no time at all and can often be completed in an evening. Leanne was surprised at how comfy this necklace is to wear and happy that the yarn was in a great neutral color that will go with just about anything. Now to make another as a gift for a friend! We love it Leanne, thanks for sharing! |
Bethany's Mara Shawl | Bethany knit this vibrant Mara Shawl (a free pattern from the Madelinetosh website) out of a fun, bright gold color of Rowan Lima (now discontinued) and Lorna's Laces Shepherd Worsted in the Reno colorway, as an homage to our fair city. She striped the colors in no particularly arranged order, changing them as she felt like it throughout her shawl. She also included her 'signature' random yo somewhere in the middle. The result is super squishy and cozy, and warm enough for chilly days in our warehouse during the winter! Nice work Bethany! |
Kristen's Cascade Baby Sweater | Kristen started this cute little sweater last summer for an expectant friend and finally finished it just in time for the babe to get some use out of it this winter! This pattern is called Cascade and it's free from Petite Purls. Overall it was a fairly easy and very fun knit! She used Tosh Vintage and the 6 month size took just over 1 skein. There is enough leftover yarn for a matching hat and booties if desired. The pattern is easy to follow and was written for ages 3 months - 6 kids. She loves the pattern so much that she is planning another one for her little girl who is due in July 2014! |
Sara's Technicolor Dreamcoat Socks | Sara, a former employee and awesome customer stopped in on the day that the Limited Edition Tosh Technicolor Dreamcoat yarn arrived to our warehouse. She begged us to let her purchase a skein early in exchange for us being able to put her FO on display in the shop for a bit, so of course we said yes! She took home 1 skein of Tosh Sock and knit up these adorable Vanilla Latte Socks (a free pattern on Ravelry) in no time flat! We love how the color subtly stripes to create a super unique and fun pair of socks! Thanks for letting us borrow these for a bit Sara! |
Kristen's Baby Bibs | Kristen saw some cute but wildly expensive baby bibs on Etsy that she thought she could easily replicate, so she grabbed some Joel Dewberry prints and set out determined to come up with something. She quickly found this very simple free bib pattern from Heather Bailey on the Westminster Fabrics website called the Slobber Monkey Baby Bib and printed it out. Within about an hour she had 4 bibs cut out and sewed! She was able to easily get 4 bibs out of the two 1/2 yard cuts of fabric she bought. All she needs to do is add Velcro and she'll be set! |

We've been busy re-vamping parts of our website starting with photos and we wanted to share some of the changes with you! Here is a shot of one of the new Madelinetosh colors, Hosta Blue, in Tosh Merino Light in a group shot we took of a bunch of skeins when they first came in. This is just one photo that will soon be available to view in all of our hand-dyed yarns, allowing you to get a better feel for the variation between skeins! It may take a few months for us to re-photograph everything, but we are so excited about how pretty the yarns will look! Plus, there are tons more site improvements to come over the next few months, and we can't wait to share them with you! |
