Each season, Skacel releases an awesome Magalog (magazine/catalog) that highlights their newest yarns and new free patterns. We love the gorgeous layout and photography of these and so we've asked Skacel to send us a few thousand of them to send out with orders. We think you are going to love them, too! In the Spring/Summer 2014 issue, tons of new yarns (and free patterns!) are featured, and we have them all here in stock! Some of our favorite designs from the Magalog include the Evolution Shawl knit in Zitron Unisono Solid, the Kimono Lace Blocks Scarf, knit in Zitron Kimono, and the Old Denim Blanket and the Crocheted Hexagon Apron, both done in Zitron Patina and Patina Multis. We also love the use of old button-down shirts as pillow backs, sewn to knitted or felted panels to create awesome and unique throw pillow covers. So clever!
Skacel distributes a variety of yarn brands including HiKoo, Schulana, Zitron, and Schoppel Wolle. The latest from HiKoo includes the stunning alpaca, silk, and linen Rylie, which is perhaps Leanne's new favorite yarn! Linen blends are huge for spring, and the Rylie fits the bill perfectly! Another fresh offering is the Zitron Kimono, a sport weight blend of merino wool and mulberry silk that creates a yarn with both drape and texture. There are just so many awesome new yarns, we can't really describe them all so we'll just show you: |

Cast Away - Wild Flower $35.00 | Cast Away from Knit Collage is a thick-and-thin handspun yarn that uses multiple colors in the roving to create a multi-dimensional skein. Kristen is a huge fan of this yarn and has already knit two projects with it. Plus, it's super bulky, so it knits up really fast on huge needles. Check out the awesome Hoodie Scarf pattern by Knit Collage that uses two skeins of Cast Away and one skein of their Sister yarn, which we also now carry! There is nothing more fun and whimsical than the beautiful handspun delights from Knit Collage! | Sew Happy Handmade Lotion Bar - Lemongrass $9.95 | Alsatian Sew Happy Handmade Lotion Bars are a delightful treat for your hands! These lotion bars use all natural ingredients like Shea butter, beeswax, cocoa butter, almond oil, jojoba oil, and vitamin E. The scents are to die for and include Lemongrass, Lavender Mint, and Orange Patchouli. Each lotion bar comes in a cute Sew Happy tin for easy and portable storage! |
Interweave Crochet Magazine - '14 Winter $6.99 | Interweave Crochet's Winter 2014 issue is a veritable feast of wearable crocheted garments! We love the mod looking pea coat and the comfy London Tunic. Other standouts include the lovely striped Velocity Shawl, which uses two colors of Bijou Basin Ranch Seraphim, and the colorful Shuriken Shawl in Noro Silk Garden that is shown on the cover. There is something for everyone to love in this issue of Interweave Crochet! | Elysian - 16 Latigo Bay $9.00 | Cascade Elysian is the perfect blend of merino wool and acrylic and comes in tons of great colors making it wonderful for baby and kids' items, blankets, home accessories and more! Super soft and squishy fibers mean that the wearer will love the way this yarn feels next to skin. Each ball has 219 yards and works up at a worsted weight gauge on size US 7 needles. Great for quick sweaters like the adorable Short Sleeved 3-Button Cardigan by Knitting Pure and Simple (and modeled by Jenny, our vendor communications specialist), or the Gregorio Hat by Grace Akhrem! | Lace Merino - L743 $15.00 | Koigu's famous colors are now available in a lace-weight yarn, causing lace knitters around the globe to squeal with excitement! The brand new Lace Merino is the same high quality merino wool you've come to expect from Koigu, but it knits up at a slightly smaller gauge than their famous KPPPM. Each 50g skein has 292 yds of scrumptious color to work with - you are sure to love the result! Use just 2 skeins for Romi Hill's Blackjack Shawl or the Crashing Waves shawlette by Grace Akhrem. | Classic Elite Pattern Books - 1312 Cathedral $16.95 | Colorwork abounds in Cathedral, the latest book from Classic Elite. Gorgeous and colorful knits using many of their most popular yarns like Wynter, Liberty Wool Light Print, Fresco and more grace the pages of this beautifully done book. Yoked sweaters, scarves, tams, and even a unique Fair Isle bag are just a selection of designs you'll find in this collection. If you love color, we believe you will be a fan of this stunning collection from Classic Elite! |

When knit up, it results in a scarf with a thick ruffled edge and a fluttery halo! A mixture of varied textures in a wide ribbon gives Katia Funny a truly distinctive look; the resulting ruffle has a woven appearance with lots of loft and bounce!
Trendsetter Iris & Berber: Now 50% off!
Trendsetter is known for its spectacular creations - you won't find anything else like them out there! Take Iris, for example, a variegated yarn with a solid color eyelash woven throughout for a fun and flirty look. This fascinating novelty yarn is great for scarves, shawlettes, and anything you want to add a bit of texture to. For a uniquely tonal fur-type yarn, check out the chunky boucle texture of Berber for warm and fuzzy trims and accessories.
Cascade Greenland: Now 40% off!
Sometimes the upside of one of your favorite yarns being discontinued is that it often can be found at a discount. That is certainly the case with Cascade Greenland! This 100% Superwash Merino wool yarn comes in a great variety of colors that are now available at 40% off! We love this yarn and its versatility; it can be used for all kinds of items for babies and kids (and adults too!), such as sweaters, hats, cowls, scarves, and more! We love it for the Bloody Mary Cardigan by Baby Cocktails or the Strokkur by Ysolda Teague. Grab some now before it's gone forever!

Stunning florals, bold stripes, and graphic dots combined with muted cool shades mark this collection by Amy Butler as one of her best. Gypsy Caravan is a re-release of one of Amy's earliest and most popular collections. It is perfect for sewing patterns like the Sunday Picnic Blouse and Ashland Dress, both from Sew Liberated, or the Anna Tunic from Amy's own pattern line. Now available at a deep discount, you'll want to grab as much as possible to build up your stash before this collection is gone again for good!
Jenean Morrison Power Pop Fabric: Now 50% off!
Jenean Morrison's Power Pop collection is a fabulous fusion of music and art inspiration that speaks to all senses at once! Power Pop is made up of bold graphic prints and pretty florals that all work together to create an explosion of texture and fun in an homage to the Pop Art movement. These prints work well for kids, teens, and adults alike. We think they would be particularly cute in one of Serendipity Studios's Fashion Formula Skirts or the Artful Bags and Accessories! We're sure you won't have any trouble finding ways to apply these fun prints to your next sewing or quilting project!

Terry's Simple Summer Tweed Pullover | Terry decided to knit this sweater after having helped several of our customers in the retail store with questions on the pattern. She really liked the simple design and decided she must have one for herself. She chose a pretty rust color of Rowan Summer Tweed, downloaded the free pattern by Heidi Kirrmaier from Ravelry, and got to work! We love how this turned out and it appears to be the perfect fit! If you are knitting the Simple Summer Tweed Top Down V-Neck and you get stuck, give Terry a call - she's now an expert! |
Marilyn's Sprig Pullover | Marilyn saw the pre-release of the Sprig pullover from Botanical Knits 2 by Alana Dakos and just fell in love! She also really wanted to try knitting with the gorgeous Zealana Rimu DK made of super soft possum, so she cast on right away. She loves how this sweater turned out and we do, too! The possum is as soft as cashmere and has an amazing halo, not to mention the color she chose is just stunning. The Sprig pattern can be purchased as a PDF for download on Ravelry, and if you buy the pattern now, the cost of it can be applied to a later purchase of the whole Botanical Knits 2 Collection when it comes out this spring! |
Sandy's Houndstooth Hat | Sandy knit this adorable houndstooth hat from the Winter '13/'14 issue of Knit Simple Magazine. She made it as a Christmas gift for her granddaughter and it turned out simply adorable! Sandy knit the hat in the exact yarn the pattern called for, Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Aran, in the same colors. She already had it in her stash! |
Rachel's Moebius Braid Cowl | Rachel made this gorgeous cowl to submit to Knitty and it was accepted (of course it was, because it's awesome!). Here is what Rachel has to say about her design: 'I wanted to create a cabled version of my new favorite winter accessory, the cowl. Unfortunately traditional cables are not reversible and have an unsightly wrong side, which is a problem for a piece like this since both sides are often visible. However, with the brilliant invention of reversible cables, that is no longer a problem! Reversible cables are deceptively simple, using ribbing to create a fabric that looks the same on both sides.' The Moebius Braid Cowl pattern was released last month and is now available for free on Knitty.com! |
Monika's Knit Collage Hoodie Cowl | Monika jumped at the opportunity to knit this as a shop sample because she just LOVES all things Knit Collage. This project, the Hoodie Cowl (which can be purchased as a PDF on Ravelry or directly from Knit Collage) uses Gypsy Garden and Sister to create tons of fun texture and color. The result is this super warm and funky hooded cowl! Monika wanted her cowl to be a bit deeper, so she made it extra wide by adding an additional repeat of the Sister at the back part of the hood, which is fine because there is enough extra yarn to do so. |
Jenny's Erika Knight Mitts | Jenny made these cute Cabled Mitts from Erika Knight using Erika Knight's Maxi Wool. She said this project went super-fast, because the mitts are knit on US size 17 needles and can easily be whipped up in an evening. Perfect for a last-minute gift! The project just took 1 skein of yarn. She is happy with how these mitts turned out - and she finished just in time for the super cold weather we've be having! How convenient! |
