In fact, we couldn't help but celebrate with not one, but two limited edition colors! The colors combine for an off-beat pairing that is perfectly complementary - just like the fictional couple! Fraser's deep reds and oranges are inspired by Jaime's distinctive hair color (and his sometime fiery nature), while the gorgeous blues and teal of Beauchamps take on the calming presence of Claire's capable attitude.
Along with these special colors, Rachel of Unraveled Designs and Yarn is hosting a Mystery Knit-A-Long in our Ravelry group to make a stunning two-color shawl! Knit in Shepherd Sport, the shawl requires either 2 skeins each of both limited edition colors, or your favorite sport weight yarn in two colors (400 yards each - stash busting, anyone?). The MKAL kicks off the same day as the show premiers, Saturday, August 9th, and will follow the same format as our last MKAL for the Game of Thrones-inspired Stormborn Shawl. Stay tuned to this week's post on the JBW blog for all the details!
Fraser and Beauchamps are now available in many of your favorite Lorna's Laces yarns, so grab some skeins and get knitting!
Last-minute bonus! When Leticia at Spark found out we were doing a KAL and offered to do coordinating sets of stitch markers to go with Beauchamps and Fraser. Ourselves being fans of both Spark Stitch Markers, we asked her to send them ASAP! These beauties are still in production, but are currently available for pre-order and will ship August 6th. While you won't see stitch markers on the supply list for the MKAL, they are a great way to keep knitting once you've cast off the MKAL! |

Speaking of limited edition colors from Lorna's Laces, our 7 year anniversary of partnering up with those lovely folks is coming up this month! We wanted to do something really special to celebrate all the unique and inspiring colorways that we've featured over the years, and have decided to bring back seven of the most popular previous colors in a limited number of bases from Lorna's Laces in September. How will we know which ones were the most popular? We'll take a vote! Starting Friday, August 1st, you'll be able to cast your vote for the color you'd most like to see again in Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock, Shepherd Worsted and Honor on our Facebook page or in a thread on our Ravelry group.
If you need a refresher for all the options, you can find them on the Lorna's Limited Edition page. Voting ends at the end of the day Friday, August 8th. On August 9th, we'll announce the seven winners and start taking pre-orders so that you can be sure not to miss out on your favorite color! |

| We got a huge shipment of Malabrigo in this week and now we're practically swimming in scrumptious hand-dyed merino...
Which is just the way we like it! Not only do we have a ton of our top selling bases and colorways (with even more on the way!), we
also now carry Chunky and Nube! |
Chunky is a plied bulky yarn made from 100% merino that
would really shine in sturdy sweaters like the Girl's
Double Breasted Coat and cool-weather accessories like perennial favorite the Shawl
Collared Cowl from Never Not Knitting. Nube is a pure
wool roving dyed in Malabrigo's distinctive colors that is amazing for spinning, felting, and thrummed mittens.
Jeanne was also stoked that we received new
colors of Lace Baby Merino, a gorgeous lace
weight wool that makes everything from stunning shawls to airy accessories, as well as garments. Check out the Abalorio Shawl and the Featherweight
Cardigan for some of our favorite patterns done in this versatile yarn.
As if more colors of Lace Baby Merino weren't enough to get you lace-knitters excited, we've also
gotten more of the limited Lace Superwash, a
plied 100% superwash wool that is exclusive to Jimmy Beans. Grab your favorite colors for the Truckee Shawlette, designed by
our very own Kristen. But hurry, because once it's gone, it's gone!

Birthstone Bouquet- August/Peridot - Large $130.00 | Looking for a fun gift for a birthday in August? Look no further, because we've created something extra-special for those August birthdays! Each month of 2014, in partnership with Swans Island yarns, we are releasing unique Birthstone Bouquets featuring beautiful "flowers" of Swans Island Eco Wash DK. August's birthstone is Peridot, which translates perfectly to the Pesto colorway. Available in Large or Small sizes, each bouquet includes a set of Birthstone Stitch Markers from Anna Bee and a gorgeous custom cowl pattern designed by Swans Island! | Manos Del Uruguay Merino Roving - 8106 Botanico $23.95 | We know how much you all love the gorgeous colors from Manos del Uruguay, and now spinners can get in on the action! Presenting Merino Roving, a lovely new roving ready to be spun up into whatever your heart desires. Each hank is 100g of 100% extra-fine merino wool and comes in distinctive colors, so your end result is sure to be scrumptious - no matter what weight or structure you choose to spin it into! | Bar-Maids Lo-Lo Twist - Juicy Pear $11.50 | Around the shop, we can't get enough of the Lo-Lo body lotions from Bar-Maids. This skin moisturizer has 100% natural ingredients, is antioxidant & vitamin-rich, cruelty free, deeply hydrating, gluten free, and has natural SPF. Jenn even swears that it keeps her eczema in check! Now Bar-Maids has added the Twist lotion bars to their line of body bars and travel-sized tins. The new twist ups are great for applying this rich lotion to specific areas so you get moisture exactly where you need it. | Corrina Ferguson Patterns - Biellese $6.00 | These lovely shawl patterns from Corrina Ferguson are already a hit around the shop. From lacy and ethereal to substantial and warm, there's sure to be a shawl pattern in this line that will inspire you to cast on. Even better: These designs are so gorgeous, we think you'll agree that they deserve a yarn that is equally heavenly. Some of our recent favorites include Reywa Bloom for the Bouvardia Shawl, Mrs. Crosby Satchel for the Wendell Holmes Shawl, and Anzula Cloud for the Natessa Shawl. So grab your favorite pattern and your favorite lightweight yarn and get knitting! | Shibui Kavo - 0115 Brick $16.95 | This new yarn from Shibui is on its way to becoming the hands-down favorite new yarn of the season! Kavo features a 2-ply cotton core wrapped in delicious silk for a touch of sheen. The knitted fabric is strong enough to hold structured shapes while still maintaining an open and airy quality, which lends itself to an endless array of project possibilities. Kavo would beautifully show off the open work of the crocheted Autumn Leaves shawlette or Bonny top available as a single pattern or as part of Handmade in the UK ! | Hunter Hammersen - The Knitter's Curiosity Cabinet $26.95 | We adore the concept of the Knitter's Curiosity Cabinet books from Hunter Hammersen. This collection of books presents a knitter's interpretation of a curiosity cabinet, but instead of rocks and seeds and shells, you'll find an assemblage of beautiful edgings, cables, lace and stitch patterns, all inspired by vintage illustrations and skillfully translated into a host of beautiful socks and accessory patterns like shawls, hats, and fingerless mitts. Rachel can't wait to cast on for the Fucus Asparagoides Shawl from Volume 3 - it may be a mouthful, but it sure is gorgeous! |

It goes without saying that the folks at
Crystal Palace are geniuses when it comes to creating self-striping colorways! Their single-ply Mochi yarns (available in Mini, Plus and Chunky) are as unique as they are versatile, and
one of our go-tos for projects that require plenty of color. Two of their newest yarn bases, Danube and Nocturne, also feature
mesmerizing tonal and multicolor self-striping colorways.
| |
Danube, available in an Aran weight, Bulky, and DK, has a tweedy, hand-spun texture. Unlike
traditional tweeds, Danube is soft and squishy and, of course, available in a rainbow of hues. Great for 1-2 skein accessories such as
the Danube Bulky Knotted
Lace Hat, or Danube DK Shell
Cowl, Danube is a hard-wearing yarn that gets softer and softer the more you wear it.
If you are looking for a sleeker fabric, Nocturne is right up your alley. This classic merino, acrylic and nylon blend comes in
both Aran and DK weights. Each ply features a different rate of
self-stripey-ness, and when spun together, gives the yarn a marled look. Great for keeping simple projects interesting, finished knits
have beautiful bands of color that harmonize well together. Another great yarn for accessories and quick projects, the Nocturne Aran Eyelet Scarf
takes only 3 skeins, while the Nocturne DK Waffle Cowl takes
only 2!

We had a blast at our Stitch Mountain retreat with Rowan. The schedule was jam-packed with activities from touring JBW, taking a class with the amazing Sarah Hatton from Rowan, cocktail hours, outdoor activities, and more. But of course there was still time to sit back, relax, and knit with a new friend or two. Thanks so much to everyone who attended for making this event such a success and a good time!
