With Mother's Day less than a month away, we figured we better put together a list of gift ideas for you early bird shoppers out there! Up first, we have a single rose of Swans Island's Fingering (organic merino, yum!) in a beautiful limited edition shade of Orchid... which just happens to be the Pantone color of the year! This single skein of fingering is enough yarn to make Romi Hill's Desert Peach Shawl, for which a download code is included with each bouquet. Another new bouquet is the Noro Slouchy Beret Bouquet. Each bouquet contains Noro Shiraito and Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino along with a link to download the pattern to make a gorgeous slouchy beret (Check out Sandy's version here).
Another great gift option is our brand-spanking-new Rowan Kidsilk Haze Bouquet. Kidsilk Haze has long been a customer favorite, so we've created a lovely (and delightfully ethereal!) bouquet with enough yarn to make the Kidsilk Haze Circular Scarf, an excellent beginner-friendly pattern. Lastly, we have another faithful standby, our Koigu Simple Bouquets, now available in new colors! Each of these bouquets contain three different colorways of Koigu KPPPM, enough for a variety of projects! Check out the fun little video we made of us putting these together. (Sometimes we have WAYYY too much fun around here!) Still not sure what to get mom? Don't worry - we'll have more ideas over the next few weeks!

We've long been in love with Fyberspates yarn, so when Laura went to Hill Country Weavers for their retreat last month and fell in love with the rest of their yarn line, we knew it was only a matter of time before we had them in the shop! We are thrilled to now be able to offer the following Fyberspates bases: Vivacious DK, Vivacious 4-ply, and (Sandy's favorite) Gleem Lace! The two Vivacious yarns are 100% superwash merino wool in a very high twist, giving them fantastic stitch definition. Vivacious DK would be the perfect yarn for Grace Akhrem's Gig Gloves pattern or Knitbot's Calligraphy Cardigan. Vivacious 4-ply would be awesome knit up with two colors as the adorable Brooklyn Boot Liners and Mitts by Pam Powers. These boot liners are a wardrobe must-have! Gleem Lace is the final addition to the collection - and we are smitten. A blend of 55% Superwash British Bluefaced Leicester and 45% silk means this yarn really shines! Each skein boasts 874 yards to work with, making it perfect for stunning lacy projects like the Fir Cone Lace Shawl from Churchmouse. |

Finito - 866 Arco Iris $15.20 | You asked, and we listened: Finito from Malabrigo has long been on our list of customer requests, and recently we were finally able to add it to our Malabrigo offerings! This scrumptious, 100% superfine merino wool yarn is hand-dyed in a selection of Malabrigo's stunning colors and is wonderful for lighter weight projects. Technically a fingering weight, Finito works great for shawls, sweaters, scarves, and more! Two skeins will make the Sakaki shawlette pattern by Romi Hill, or 4-8 skeins make the Top-Down Lightweight T-Shirt from Knitting Pure and Simple. |
'14 April - Baker Street Blues $49.95 | In case we haven't given you enough Sherlock this month, we have one last little gem to add to the collection! This month's Denise2Go Limited Edition set features fabric from Michael Miller's Indo Ikat Collection and we've appropriately named it "Baker Street Blues." This set features US 5-10 needle tips and a US G Crochet hook in the quintessential Denise gray with white cords - everything you need to solve that knitting mystery! |
Nancy's Knit Knacks Needle & Hook Gauge - Jimmy Beans Wool $4.99 | We swore we needed another needle gauge like we need another hole in the head (boy, that's a lot of holes between the two!)... But this needle gauge convinced us that we really do! This handy gauge from Nancy's Knit Knacks features a HUGE range of sizing from US 000 - 35 as well as a ruler in both inches and metric for your swatching needs. Not only that, but these super cute gauges come with our logo printed on them! Yep, we definitely had to have these, and hopefully you will, too! |
Schacht Cricket or Flip 15" Reeds Accessories - 5-Dent Reed $37.00 | Much to our delight, the responses we've had since we started carrying the Schacht Cricket Looms have been overwhelmingly positive! You are excited about weaving and so are we, which is why we have added a variety of reed sizes for both the 10-inch and 15-inch looms! Now you can get the extra reeds you need in 5-dent, 10-dent, or 12-dent (your loom comes with an 8-dent reed), or snag a variable dent reed to mix and match in the same project. These extra reeds will allow you to broaden your weaving horizons and open the door to even more beautiful projects! |
Interweave Press Knitscene Magazine - '14 Summer $7.99 | The latest Knitscene Magazine issue is here, featuring tons of great lightweight summer knits! Linen and similar blends seem to be the hottest fiber to keep you cool this coming summer, and this issue highlights many ways to knit with it! We love the Lea Pullover, which uses Classic Elite Firefly, and the Kinross Tank that uses Berroco Linsey. Not only that, but there is a great feature on one of our favorite designers, Grace Akhrem, making Knitscene Summer 2014 is an issue you won't want to miss! |
In Silk - 6051 Parsley $22.95 | Schoppel Wolle is known for their unique single-ply felting technique that brings you a soft single-ply with great stitch definition and pill resistance. With their latest yarn, In Silk, they've taken that technique and given it a softer edge with a little sheen for a gorgeous result! Try out this Aran weight yarn on the new Rosemont Cardigan from Knitbot or the Ridgeline Wrap and Cowl from JUL. Any way you use it, In Silk is bound to become a new favorite you'll turn to again and again!

Cat Bordhi's latest collection is not only darn cute, but it serves a greater cause: Cancer treatment research! The Art of Felfs: Felted Footwear for Families is a collection of 15 different styles of felted "elf" style slippers, boots, and more in sizes for everyone in the family. These boots are totally adorable - and they are also super fun and easy to make using Frog Tree's Ewetopia yarn, which felts into a nubbly and luxurious cozy fabric.
The 70 page e-book is available for download from Cat's website and 100% (yes, that's right, the whole enchilada) of your purchase will be donated to the research lab of Dr. David Krag at the University of Vermont Medical School. Dr. Krag, who pioneered sentinel node location, a technique that has been used on over 1 million women with breast cancer, is now on the cusp of beginning clinical trials for a more gentle cancer treatment that will replace chemo and is likelier to result in a complete cure. Cat, a two-time cancer survivor herself, believes strongly in this project and we want to support her in her efforts to fund this research. We hope you'll join us in making Felfs for you and your family!
If you'd like to read more about Cat's Felf project as well as see tons of photos of Felfs, be sure to check out her guest post on the JBW blog from earlier this week. You can find Frog Tree Ewetopia on our site, as well as kits for the Raven, Ballet, and First Felfs! If you plan to make some Felfs of your own, don't forget to go to Ravelry or Cat's website directly to download your copy of The Art of Felfs !

Tosh Technicolor Dreamcoat Onesies: 15% Off!
Along with our shipment of Technicolor Dreamcoat, the Exclusive Tosh Color for March, we also received a batch of Onesies to accompany it. Onesies are skeins that came out of the dye vats just a little bit more unique than the rest, although these one-of-a-kind skeins are often some of the most beautiful we've seen! Use these onesie skeins for one-skein projects like Never Not Knitting's Sugar and Cream Cowl, or if hats are more your thing, we don't think you could ever have too many versions of the Koigu Beaded Beret from Churchmouse, which will work with Tosh Merino Light as well as Koigu. These skeins are still first quality, so at 15% off, it's quite a deal! Be sure to grab one now because they are sure to disappear like lightening!
Be Sweet Satisfaction & Whipped Cream: Now 50% Off!
We rarely get the opportunity to offer you discounts on Be Sweet's awesome yarns, so when we were able to get some of their Simply Sweet yarns on sale, we jumped at the chance! Both Whipped Cream and Satisfaction are now available at 50% off, a great deal on these delicious (and conscientiously made!) yarns. Three skeins of Whipped Cream makes the stunning Lace Infinity Scarf by Tanis Gray from our Knit Red book, while the Satisfaction would be great for the Top-Down Trapeze Pullover from Knitting Pure and Simple. These are available on sale for just a short time, so be sure to grab some before they're gone!
Select Sewing Books: Now 20% Off!
Need a little sewing inspiration? We've got some great books in our sale outlet to get your wheels turning! Weekend Sewing, one of Kristen's favorites, has some great projects that can be done in just a weekend - like the wrap skirt or the trapeze dress, as well as household items and kids garments! I Am Cute Dresses and Simple Modern Sewing are two of Sandy's favorites, with wonderful garments that can be made again and again. Need something edgier or like to recycle your fabrics? Try Cut-Up Couture, which guides you through making couture-like garments from large men's clothing. Either way, at 20% off, you are sure to find something to inspire you to get out that machine and make some magic!
Tahki Boulder and Coyote: Now 50% off!
While summer may be just around the corner, it is never too late to get a head start on fall and winter knitting! To that effect, we have two wonderfully bulky Tahki closeouts you don't want to miss out on. Boulder, falling into the super duper bulky category at just 1.5 stitches per inch, is wound in an incredible 200g boulder-like ball! A lovely wool blend, this yarn comes in muted multicolor shades that are sure to coordinate with any outfit! We also have Coyote, a textured super bulky wool-blend yarn that will add a little flair of fur to accessories. Knit the furry Tolstoy Faux Fur Cowl or pair with Montana for the Chekhov Cabled Cowl with a little fringe detail. If you want to get really wild, you can try the Boulder and Coyote together in the Hugo Fur-End Scarf!
Schulana Violon & Schoeller + Stahl Batika: Now 50% Off!
Batika is a 100% super soft acrylic DK weight that is perfect for items that you need to be machine washable. Ideal for babies and kids, this yarn will surprise you with its smooth and soft feel. Violon is a machine-wash super bulky yarn made up of 50% merino wool, 25% alpaca, and 25% nylon for a super sturdy blend of fibers. Each of these yarns is excellent for a variety of projects at a super awesome price!
Pony Totals Needles: Now 60% off!
Now you can do away with your straight needles forever if you like! Pony Totals will be your new favorite knitting tool when you need a little more flexibility. The short tips are attached to flexible cords with stoppers at the end, giving you the ease of a circular needle without the hassle a connecting cord can cause when you're knitting flat! They're much lighter in weight than traditional straight needles and conveniently fold up to fit compactly into a knitting bag or purse. As an added bonus, a row counter is included right on the cord!

Jenny's Sylkie Cowl | Jenny knit this as a shop sample in Malabrigo Rios. The pattern is called Sylkie by the Shetland Trader (Gudrun Johnston) and is a long loop cowl. The pattern is knit lengthwise and joined at the back of neck, using Kitchener stitch or the method of your choice. Jenny said she enjoyed the pretty patterning throughout and found it to be an interesting knit. She loved working with the Malabrigo Rios, which is machine washable and oh-so-soft! Nice work on this gorgeous knit, Jenny! |
Laura's Alabama Chanin Skirt | Laura bought the kit to make the Alabama Chanin Bloomer's Swing Skirt because she loved the idea of hand-stitching an entire garment and just had to give it a try. We are SO glad she did, because it is so stunning! The kit contains the directions, fabric, thread, and everything needed to complete the project. The fabric is pre-printed for the cut-outs to make your job even easier! Laura became so addicted to hand-stitching after completing this project that she immediately began another hand-stitched skirt. We think these are so cute and can't wait to give them a try ourselves! |
Ellen's Cascade Baby Blanket for Olive | Kristen's mom, Ellen, has been crafting up a storm in anticipation of her first grandbaby. Even before she knew the gender, she wanted to knit something, so she chose to knit the "Stripe it Rich" blanket from Cascade's 60 Quick Baby Blankets. To view the original, see it on Ravelry here. She chose five different shades of green in Cascade 220 Superwash to knit this blanket, and used every last bit of each color. The result is a fun and squishy garter stitch blanket (with a crocheted blanket stitch border) that is sure to keep her granddaughter warm! |
Sandy's Tempo Scarf | Sandy saw the new Tempo yarn from Filatura Di Crosa and set out to find a fun pattern to knit it into. She chose a shawl pattern from the Filatura Di Crosa Tutto Bene book, called the Villa D'Este Shawl, and chose four different colors of the Tempo to blend. She said it was a fun and easy knit, but there are a lot of ends to weave in at the end. She absolutely loves the result and so do we! |
Terry's Urban Infinity Loop | Terry fell in love with the new Tangier yarn from Cascade and decided that the Urban Infinity Loop cowl by Tanis Gray (a free pattern on the Cascade website) would be the perfect use for one skein AND a fun way to show off the yarn's gorgeous tonal color striping. The result is a pretty cowl that can be worn for multiple seasons and will match with a wide range of colors. She loved the Tangier's silky soft feel and would definitely knit with it again. Lovely job, Terry! |
