| Our latest batch of baskets is sure to help you get creative! We are thrilled to be able to collaborate with Rowan for these stunning Fine Art Towers. The Fine Art Tower comes with two skeins of hand-dyed Rowan Fine Art sock yarn in your choice of color, two Eucalan single wash packets (for keeping your hand knits clean and long-lasting!), Knitter's Pride Nova circular needles in size US 5 -47", Knitter's Pride Zooni Stitch Markers, and an exclusive Crescent Shawl Pattern (a garter stitch crescent shawl with a pretty lace border) from the Rowan Design Team. |
All of these items are artfully arranged and stacked in beautiful nesting boxes that can be reused to store knitting items, gift giving, or organizing supplies. It seems like everyone Kristen knows is expecting a baby right now, including one of our employees, Heather. So she was inspired to create these adorable baby baskets featuring Spud & Chloe yarns and patterns! We have the Hoot Hat Basket and the Leaf Baby Blanket Basket, each of which comes in a cute fabric storage box with a rubber ducky for tub time, and the pattern and yarn needed to complete the project. Whether you'll be gifting a knitter friend or knitting the item yourself and gifting the completed project in the basket, these adorable gifts are the perfect way to welcome a new little one into the world.
Or, if you have your own baby-knit in mind, snag one of our Build-Your-Own Basket supply kits and choose your own project to go inside. We'll even build your custom basket for you (just select the " Build My Basket" option) and ship it anywhere you want it to go!
If babies aren't in your life at the moment or you want something a bit more seasonal, be sure to check out our other fall baskets like the hunting-themed Through the Woods Basket or the sweet and simple Small Fall Basket. There is still time to decorate your Thanksgiving table with a Tosh Cornucopia, or knit a Luxury Holiday Garland with our Luxury Fiber Sampler. Or, if last year's Holiday Collection "Fit for a Feast" was more your speed, stay tuned for next week's big reveal of our Exclusive 2013 Holiday Collection and be sure to check out some of our teasers over on the JBW Blog!! |

| We are so thrilled to see that Schacht's Cricket Looms are being featured in the Martha Stewart Holiday Gift Guide 2013! For good reason, too, since many of us here at JBW have caught the weaving bug this year - including our MASTER quilter, Gus! He's taken a nod from us knitters and fallen in love with yarn, which has turned into not one, but four gorgeous woven scarves so far! He's definitely on a roll, and you will be too, once you see how easy weaving can be with these simple-to-use lap looms!
Available in two different widths, 10" and 15", Cricket Looms make it possible for you to create anything from scarves and cowls to dish towels and table runners in a flash. Although most of us are still just beginners, we've found these looms incredibly easy to set up and use, and a great way to use up a bunch of stash yarn. |
To get started, we recommend a good weaving book such as the Weaver's Idea Book, and some basic DK or Worsted Weight yarn like Cascade 220 or Rowan Creative Focus Worsted. Once you get your bearings, a hand-dye like Tosh Vintage would be fantastic as well. Or, mix and match textures and colors to your heart's content to create unique, one-of-a-kind scarves for everyone you know!

Their latest yarn is a sumptuous single-ply (that takes colors with amazing depth) and it's super chunky, which is perfect for those last minute projects before the holidays! | Koigu Classic Crate Fun Sock Kits $29.95 | A Jimmy Beans Wool Exclusive (featured in the Vogue Knitting 2013 Holiday Issue), Koigu's cute Crate Fun Sock Kits make the perfect gift for knitters or your loved ones! Available in a range of special holiday themed color groupings, these kits are a ton of fun, and adorable to boot! |
Imperial Yarn Erin - Teal Shadow $21.00 | Our latest acquisition from Imperial's line of yarns comes with a pretty unique story. Erin, a wonderfully wooly worsted weight yarn, was personally selected by the design team at Ralph Lauren to become the sweaters our American athletes will wear during the opening ceremonies of the Olympics in Sochi this coming February. Olympic yarn... it doesn't get much better than that! Put Erin to the test by knitting one of Imperial's original designs such as the Trickle Down Tank or the cozy Rimrock Cardigan. Or, snag some Heart Red, Natural, and Navy to create some tri-color knits and show your support for Team USA! |
Bridgette Lane Flannel - Posies $11.99/yd | Cozy up to a warm fire with your knitting or a good book wearing new flannel jammies sewn in these cute new prints by Valori Wells! The Bridgette Lane Flannel Collection contains a range of fun and complementary prints that are sure to inspire plenty of sewing this winter, whether it be for you or someone you want to keep toasty warm. Although there is no lack of good pajama patterns out there in the world (and even some good free online tutorials), we love these Sleepover Pajamas for the kiddos by Oliver & S. Too bad they don't come in an adult version as well, as the Bridgette Lane prints work well for all ages! |

This fall brought two stunning new yarns from the Fibre Company. Sandy's favorite is Tundra, a squishy bulky weight yarn that is a scrumptious blend of 60% baby alpaca, 30% merino wool, and 10% silk. Along with the yarn arrived a selection of new patterns to accompany it. One of the top picks at the shop is the Permafrost shawl with its squishy garter stitch body and picot edging. Another favorite is the Copenhagen Hooded Cowl, a simple and easy accessory to keep you warm on chilly days. The Svalbard Hat and Mittens are a classic winter warmer set, and the Fairbanks and Tallin Cowls are just divine to knit and wear. Ooh! And check out the Sugarplum Cowl, a collaboration of The Fibre Company and Be Sweet using Tundra and Magic Ball - simply divine! Next up we have the polar opposite of Tundra: Meadow! Meadow is a soft and slightly slubby lace-weight yarn that boasts 545 yards per skein and is comprised of 40% merino wool, 25% baby llama (llamallamallamallamallama!!!), 20% silk, and 15% linen. Such a unique blend calls for equally unique pattern support. The patterns to accompany this yarn are just stunning. Some of our favorites include the two-color Allium shawl, the open-lace Shallot stole, and the pretty and feminine Lillydale shawlette. We can't wait to knit with these yarns and are sure we'll love them as much as we already love all the rest of The Fibre Company's gorgeous yarns! |

We can't help but swoon over these gorgeous Birthstone Stitch Marker Sets by Anna Bee. Laura met Anna AND her husband Brad (Swonetz) 5 years ago when Brad was hired to photograph Laura and Doug for Fortune Small Business Magazine. Needless to say, they instantly became best friends forever and Brad subsequently photographed our next book Stitch Mountain. And, as it turns out, Anna is a fantastic jewelry designer, so after bonding over a glass of wine (ok, two) Laura fell in love with Anna's hand-stamped jewelry... and of course asked her to make something exclusive for us - these gorgeous stitch markers!
Laura has always wanted birthstone stitch markers like these and thought if she wanted them, maybe other knitters would, too! Each set is made of silver plate metal and Swarovski Crystals in the correct color for each month of the year and contains 5 stitch markers. Or, if you would rather have a custom set with a marker to represent everyone you love, you can purchase these markers individually as well to personalize your collection! Making new friends often creates something wonderful, and we are so glad that Anna and Laura met and turned their budding friendship into this awesome collaboration! |

Textured silk and gorgeous colors are what you'll find in these "onesie" skeins of Fleece Artist and Handmaiden yarns! Rumple by Handmaiden is a textured boucle fingering weight 100% silk yarn that is great for scarves, shawls, and other drapey garments. Fleece Artist's Woolie Silk is a DK weight wool and silk blend that is not only wonderful for accessories, but for garments as well. TSC Artyarns Adora: Now 50% Off!
Artyarns at 50% off? Oh my! Full o' Sheep is a single-ply 100% wool that is soft and works well for felted items like slippers and home accessories. Any way you choose to use your Stitch Nation, you are sure to be a happy camper!

| When Kristen saw this cowl on the runway at VK Live Seattle, she fell instantly in love with its two-color patterning and gorgeous leafy Fair Isle design. The Pine Bough Cowl, one of Skacel's free patterns to accompany their Hikoo Kenzie yarn (in which we just received 10, yes 10, new colors!), is simply stunning. Designed by artist and designer Dianna Walla of Paper Tiger, Pine Bough is a tubular cowl (knit as a tube in the round and then grafted together) and is long enough to be worn doubled for extra warmth. Dianna calls it a "sweater for your neck" because of its density and soft drape. It's also the perfect first project for all of the Fair Isle neophytes out there, as there are only two colors throughout the whole thing and the pattern is a relatively easy repeat. |
Kenzie is one of Hikoo's newest yarns, a blend of wool, nylon, angora, and alpaca. The color palette is a combo of fun brights and soft neutrals, which are perfect for mixing and matching. The yarn itself is kind of on the tweedy side (tweed!) and has an awesome texture. If you love the Pine Bough Cowl as much as Kristen does (she's already cast on for one in Lamington and Pavlova) then you can grab everything you need to make it with one of our Pine Bough Kits. Otherwise, you can check it out on Ravelry or just go straight to the Skacel website and download the pattern for free. |

Laura's Hexagon Shuffle Quilt | Laura saw this free quilt pattern from Moda - the Hexagon Shuffle Quilt - and knew it HAD to be her next project! She and Huck actually worked on this one together; he ran the sewing machine pedal while she guided the pieces through. It was a team effort! The quilt uses a nice crisp white background fabric and one pack of the Moda Bella Solids Hexagonal shaped pre-cuts. The result is a gorgeous multi-colored quilt that will go in any room of the house! Laura backed the quilt in a nice red color and chose to make a self-binding version, although the pattern does call for a separate contrasting color for the binding. |
Amanda's Ann Norling Cowl | Amanda found a beautiful skein of Tosh Vintage in Opaline in our last shipment of Onesies and just HAD to snag it. Being a beginning knitter, she decided that Ann Norling's Easy Cowl in Any Gauge would be the perfect first cowl to knit. She adjusted the pattern a bit to work for her with just one skein. The result is a slightly skinnier double loop cowl that looks fantastic! |
Huck's Gumdrop Pillow | Laura saw this Gumdrop Pillow design by Amy Butler and knew immediately that she wanted to make one for Huck in the Birch Organics Robotic fabric by Rebekah Ginda. She found out that Amy Butler has a class on Creativebug.com specifically for making this pillow, so she decided to check it out! A few hours of cutting and sewing later, and Huck has a new 'bean bag chair" as he lovingly calls it. He wouldn't let Laura stuff it any fuller and left it nice and squishy so that he can comfortably sit on it. Needless to say that the client loved his pillow and Laura will be making more of them for the house! |
Skye's Donner Pass Cowl | Skye was looking for a simple neck gaiter pattern that she could knit to wear while riding her bike on chilly days. One of Kristen's Free Patterns from her blog (Marinade), the Donner Pass Cowl, fit the bill perfectly, so she cast on in Malabrigo Worsted Merino. She loved the pattern because it is simple knitting that is still interesting with its spiral rib pattern. She finished knitting it over a weekend trip with friends, and they all begged her to knit them one, too. It's perfectly cozy for cold days! |
Bethany's 'Some Cloudy Day' Legwarmers | It gets pretty cold in our warehouse in the winter sometimes, so this year Bethany wanted to be prepared with some cute legwarmers to wear on those extra chilly days. Enter the free 'Some Cloudy Day' leg warmers pattern by Tiny Owl Knits! Bethany really wanted to use the new Malabrigo Mecha yarn, but the gauge is much bigger than the pattern called for. So she knew she would have to alter it a bit. Since the Mecha calls for a US size 11 needle and she knits at a really loose gauge, Bethany grabbed a US size 9 needle and cast on 40 sts. That was it! Easy peasy, and the result is this cute and cozy pair of legwarmers that she can wear all winter long! |
Penne's Legwarmies | Bethany liked her Some Cloudy Day legwarmers in Malabrigo Mecha so much that she decided to make a baby-sized pair for Penne with her yarn leftovers! She cast on 20 sts and worked in 2x2 ribbing in the round on US size 9 dpns for about 1'. Then she increased to 21 sts and switched to stockinette stitch for the remainder of the legwarmers, about 5'. She just measured Penne's calves and stopped when they were long enough. Bethany knits at a loose gauge, so to obtain a similar gauge as her, you would want to us a larger needle - approximately a US 10.5. These turned out super cute...or maybe it's just the baby. Either way, we love them! |
