February 2012 Lorna's Laces Limited Edition Release

The inspiration for this month’s Limited Edition color came
from one of our Purchasing Team Beans, Amanda. Many of you might know
Amanda, she’s actually worked here longer than all of us -
taking breaks here and there to pursue her love of Equine Therapy.
Last year was a big year of transitions for her, both good and bad,
so she designed this color to represent all of the "New Beginnings" that have come her way. The bold
transition from dark charcoal and greys to bright
candy pinks and cranberry reds represents all the good things to come.
We love how this color also ties in perfectly with National Heart
Month and the introduction of our latest project, Stitch Red (don't worry - you'll read more about Stitch Red below)! Starting the
Stitch Red movement and focusing on Heart Disease awareness has
encouraged all of us to start new beginnings for ourselves - to become more active and live healthier
lifestyles. In fact, “New Beginnings” represents
something even bigger than just the Jimmy Beans community, it is hope
that all of you will also be inspired to join us in our desire to
live heart-healthy lives. Spread the word and start your “New
Beginning” today!
For more information, be sure to keep reading
this newsletter and check out the Lorna’s Laces Stitch
Red color, Bold
Red . |

We are thrilled to announce the launch of “Stitch Red”,
a collaborative effort that we’ve started to help bring
awareness to heart disease, the number one killer of women in
America. We’ve joined forces with a number of companies in the
needlearts industry to start this campaign and literally stick it to
heart disease. All of our collaborators are creating Stitch Red
products that will be sold in yarn shops across the country and a
percentage of the profits will benefit the Foundation
for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH) in support of The
Heart Truth®, a national awareness campaign for
women about heart disease, sponsored by the National
Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). It is so exciting for
us to be able to give back in this way, as so many of us here at
Jimmy Beans Wool have been personally affected by heart disease. |
The upcoming book Knit
Red is our contribution to the Stitch
Red movement. We’ve gathered a wonderful collection of knitting
designs by 30 amazing, top-notch designers (including two of our own
little beans, Jeanne and Kristen) all in one book. To that we've
added the designers’ personal stories about their connections
to heart disease, their healthy lifestyle tips and heart-healthy
recipes for a book like no other. Knit
Red is available for pre-order now and will be published in June of this year. We
can't wait for you all to see this project that we've
been working so hard on for all these months! To see a list of all of the designers featured in the Knit Red book, check out the Knit Red page. Want to get involved? Also, keep up to date with the latest news on the Stitch Red blog. The
more people we can get involved, the more awareness we will create
and, hopefully, more and more people will start to make positive
changes that will help to lower their risk of heart disease. Every
little bit helps!
