November 2011 Lorna's Laces Limited Edition Release

|
Ah, November - the month of family, chilly weather, and a whole lot of turkey. It's also the season of Hollywood movies vamping up (no pun intended!) and our resident Twilight fans - Erika, Monika, Ailene, and Leanne - have been so excited for the third movie that we just had to dedicate this month's LLE color, Breaking Dawn, to them and their dedicated fandom!
This gothic-inspired colorway embodies the ambience of the final chapter with its intense colors: deep blood red, dusky purple, and a splash of chocolate brown. And, hey, even if you're sick of hearing about the Bella and Edward saga, you won't be able to resist the magnetizing allure of this blend. We're calling it the darker version of Peppermint Mocha, without the pinks. Mmmm...

Brand new yarns from Tahki Stacy Charles!
We just received brand new colors of our go-to yarn, Zara, from Tahki Stacy Charles' brand Filatura di Crosa! This incredibly soft DK weight yarn is made of 100% extrafine merino wool and is 100% machine washable. Plus, it boasts fantastic stitch definition, great yardage (137 yards per ball!), and it does not pill! We do recommend that if you would like to throw your Zara knits into the wash, be sure to wet-block your swatch!
P.S. Check out our blog this Friday - we're having another spectacular give-away on our blog where you can win 5 balls of Zara!
Big Montana is the epitome of super-quick, super-bulky yarn. It's available in five classic neutral colorways and it calls for a US 17 needle! This 100% wool yarn is perfect for chunky accessories you can use as deadline gifts and tempting for those cozy jackets and cardigans as a nice wintertime treat for yourself!
For those in warmer climates, be sure to check out the fingering weight version of Cotton Classic! Cotton Classic Lite is the same super soft 100% Mercerized Cotton but with added yardage! It's breathable enough for tanks and tees but sturdy enough to use for market bags and potholders...is there anything this yarn can't do?!
Of course with all of the new yarns floating about, brand new pattern books from Tahki were not too far behind. Be sure to check out Tahki Stacy Charles' website to peek into all of their pattern books!
Be on the lookout later this week for chances to score both Cotton Classic Lite yarn and copies of the new Potpouri book! We'll be posting both of these items on Friday, November 4th at a low price!

Fall and winter are all about layering and Classic Elite's MountainTop collection helps us do just that! This new collection consists of three super soft and cozy naturally dyed yarns, each composed of different fibers and weights.
The worsted weight Vista, for starters, is an exceptionally warm blend of 50% Wool and 50% Superfine Alpaca. It's ideal for sweaters and vests but also makes for lovely shawls like the Highland Fling Shawl!
Crestone, also an ultra-warm worsted weight yarn, is 100% wool with two different shades of color that are plied together to create added depth and texture. This yarn looks great when knit up into gorgeous, rustic sweaters and hats like the Alpine Meadow Pullover and the Dale Tam!
A stunning blend of 70% Baby Alpaca and 30% Bamboo Viscose, the fingering-weight Vail creates stunningly soft and silky smooth garments with lovely drape - perfect for those allergic to wool! Create lovely shawls or lightweight scarves with this perfect yarn!
Aside from Classic Elite's Mountaintop Collection, we have also added the variegated counterpart to one of our favorite lace yarns, Silky Alpaca Lace! Available in seven stunning blends, Silky Alpaca Lace Hand Paint is just as scrumptious as the original with its 70% alpaca, 30% silk blend, and 440 generous yards! Use it for this simple Chevron Scarf or try it out on the Open Front Cardi!
Most of the posted kits came from all of the brand new pattern books from Classic Elite - be sure to check them all out!
You'll be able to try out some of these brand new yarns by Classic Elite later this week on the Wool Watcher page! On Thursday November 3rd, we'll be posting skeins of both Silky Alpaca Lace Hand Paint and Mountaintop Crestone for all your fiber needs! :)

Donations have officially started to roll in for our 2012 Beans for Brains Scholarship fund!! We are so excited to be announcing the 2012 Beans for Brains Scholarship Awards and, in case you haven't heard, we've got an exciting plan to share with you for the 2012 awards. We hope you'll join the cause!
This year, we have ten major sponsors that will be matching public donations to the Beans for Brains scholarship fund. For the month of November, Jimmy Beans Wool will be accepting donations online and in our retail store with the targeted goal of raising $10,000 from all of YOU! Each of our sponsors will match the amount raised up to $1,000 for a grand total of $20,000 combined. From November 1st through November 30th, please visit our Beans for Brains Scholarship page and donate (and be sure to send your family and friends, too!). If every one of our customers gave $1, we'd be well over our goal in no time!!
In January, we will announce the total amount raised and share a timeline for when we will start accepting applications for the 2012-2013 school year!
