This month's color was designed by our very own Shevawn! She really captured the spirit of February in this unique colorway and we're sure you'll love it as much as we do! Of course there is a story behind the fiery hues of this luscious colorway and lucky for us, Shevawn was kind enough to share her source of colorful creativity:
"The inspiration for this color really comes down to a quote from one of my favorite poets, Pablo Neruda: "To feel the love of people whom we love is a fire that feeds our life." Being the month of love (and Neruda being the poet of love), I thought this quote proved most fitting. I really wanted to create a color to encapsulate the connection between love and light, celebration and amour...hence, 'Festival of Love'!
Because February is the month of Love, it is also one of celebration! Not only do we show gratitude for our loved ones on Valentine's Day, but we celebrate with eager anticipation the return of light and the resurgence of the spring months ahead. It is a time to rekindle our creative energies, awake from our winter hibernation and begin to reconnect with ourselves and our loved ones.
Festival of Love is a radiant celebration of this sustaining love that abounds everywhere with not only our significant others but with our friends, family, knitting circles, and even the people we have yet to meet! I wanted this color to stand as a festive reminder that we can celebrate love everyday of the year, not just one day out of the month! The invigorating blend of Valentine red, fiery golden and sunset orange hues, and just a hint of brown and sage not only invokes images of romantic candlelit nights with your favorite sweetheart but also gives meaning to the illuminating thread of love that connects us all."

Receive Instant Wool Watcher Updates via Twitter.com
It's official: you can follow the Wool Watcher puppy on Twitter! That's right, the puppy now Tweets every time a new item is posted to WW giving you instantaneous updates on the latest discounts and making it all too easy to take advantage of great deals on yarn! For those of you who might not know about Twitter or how it works, we've put together a simple explanation so you too can partake in the fun!
Twitter is an online "micro-blogging" site that allows people to stay connected through short messages (text-based posts of up to 140 characters) called "Tweets". Here's how it works step by step:
1.You can create an account at Twitter.com. The process is similar to setting up an email or Facebook account.
2. Once you sign up, you can search for people or groups that you want to "follow". This means that whenever they "tweet" it will be added to your Twitter feed - a chronological list of the latest updates from the people and groups you follow. You can also search for people and groups without signing up, but you cannot follow them without an account.
3. Tweets are displayed on your profile page. There is no need to respond or reply, but you can if you want!
There are different ways to check your Tweets. Some people choose to check on their Twitter page while others prefer to forward the messages to their smart phone as texts. It all depends on your preferences!
Jimmy Beans Wool currently has another Twitter account (@JimmyBeansWool) with information about the general happenings at the store. We thought many of you would enjoy the freedom from following the Wool Watcher puppy via Twitter from just about anywhere! As you know Wool Watcher is JBW's prime location to find HUGE savings for a very limited period of time (every 2 hours, unless the item sells out faster)! What this means is that there will be a Tweet at least every 2 hours, which may seem like a lot, especially if you're having your tweets forwarded to your phone.
However, we know many avid Wool Watchers out there will appreciate a simpler way to Wool Watch without the necessity of checking their computers every couple of hours.
Here's an example of what one of the Tweets might look like:
If you want to follow us or our Wool Watcher puppy, go to Twitter.com and search "WoolWatcher"! Check it out!

Never Not Knitting - Oak Leaf $5.50
|
Yet another new pattern from Never Not Knitting! Oak Leaf is a deceptively simple design featuring an oak leaf detail embossed on the back of these fitted fingerless mitts. Knit with any sport-weight fiber of your choosing, we suggest a hand-dyed yarn such as Tosh DK or Lorna's Shepherd Sport (maybe in Festival of Love?!) to add a subtle texture to these rustic hand-warmers. My favorite part about this particular pattern is the inclusion of instructions for both fingerless gloves AND fingerless mittens, so no matter which you prefer, your fingers will be far from frozen :)
|
 Norah Gaughan - Vol. 8 $14.95
|
The newest Norah Gaughan Pattern Booklet Volume 8 is a dream come true for lovers of stylish comfort! Brimming with artistic, whimsical designs in muted, summery hues, these unique patterns use lightweight cotton and linen blend fibers such as Berroco's Pure Pima and Linsey (new in 2011, Linsey should be arriving soon at the shop)! The openwork geometry, flowery insets and figure-flattering silhouettes contained in this collection cover a wide range of garments from Glasco, a cozy cabled pullover to Salado, a breezy tank with lacy details!
|
 Stitch Markers - Bee $7.00

|
 Berroco Flicker $10.00
|
At first glance, you might think Flicker is nothing special in its neutral palette of greys, browns and ecru. Upon closer inspection, however, you will find a sparkly strand of metallic shining out from the chain-like construction of this alpaca and acrylic blend giving the natural-looking fiber a mysterious glimmer. The generous yardage and soft, heathery texture of this new yarn from Berroco makes Flicker perfect for classic cabled cardigans and thick warm scarves, adding subtle shimmer and extra intrigue to every project!
|
