Gasp! The Goblin has arrived! Not the kind running around your neighborhood on Halloween, but October's Limited Edition Color from Lorna's Laces! A frightfully delightful combination of rich brown, rusty brick red and sour apple green, Goblin evokes images of cherished fall phenomena from costumed tricksters to harvest festivals and mid-autumn leaves.
To be honest, when I hear the word goblin, I think of the Green Goblin from Spider Man (probably because it's pretty much the last movie that I've seen in a theater).
This month's Limited Edition color from Lorna's Laces aptly embodies the Green Goblin's supervillain costume color scheme.
As fall quickly approaches though, the color itself also conjures up images of caramel apples, maple trees halfway through their autumn costume change, and the
awesome pair of socks you could be knitting with a hank of Goblin. :)
We hope you'll be able to use your Goblin to knit up something fall-tastic for yourself or for the goblin in your life (i.e., Huck for me)!
p.s. don't forget to join our newly formed Jimmy Beans Wool LLE Fan Club!
Haven't heard of it? Take a peek at the perks here!

Goblin Baby Me Boo?
Yes!! In our constant quest to go where no yarn shop has gone before, to do what no one in the yarn industry has ever done,
we at Jimmy Beans Wool have joined two of its favorite companies together in a first-of-its-kind collaboration.
Baby Me Boo in Goblin $21.00
|
As part of their exclusive Limited Edition Color program, Lorna's Laces and Jimmy Beans Wool have brought Misti Alpaca into the fold.
An exporter of high quality alpaca yarns from Peru, Misti Alpaca has a US distributor located in a suburb of Chicago just down the road from the Lorna's headquarter in Chicago.
It's as if it was meant to be!
Beginning October 2010 (now!) Lorna's will be dying a limited quantity of Misti's luxurious Baby Me Boo yarn in addition to its own line of yarns traditionally available in the color of the month. Released the first of each month, Limited Edition Colors are dyed by the pigmentation professionals at Lorna's Laces and sold exclusively by Jimmy Beans Wool. Only a finite amount is produced (72 hanks of the Baby Me Boo, to be exact)- so once it's gone, it's gone!
|
P.s. Did you know that the name Baby Me Boo, which might just sound like a cutesy appellation geared towards mothers and grandmas-to-be, is actually a shortened version of the yarn's fiber content:
Baby (baby alpaca) Me (merino wool) Boo (bamboo)?!
A few hanks of this yarn will be available on Wool Watcher on Thursday October 7th.

A Free Pattern on my Shipping Bag?
Yes!! In our constant quest to go AGAIN where no yarn shop has gone before, to do what no one in the yarn industry has done,
we at Jimmy Beans Wool have unveiled shipping envelopes printed with a FREE LORNA'S LACES SOCK PATTERN.
If Limited Edition Baby Me Boo wasn't impressive enough, hold onto your hats because our new Project Packs will definitely rock your socks!
What are these Project Packs you ask? They are our new shipping envelopes that not only keep your yarn clean and safe on its way from Jimmy Beans to your front door, but also include a free pattern on one side of the envelope itself!
They are waterproof, rustproof, even bulletproof!! Ok, maybe not bulletproof, but you will be able to cut this pattern out, punch holes, and keep it in your personal pattern binder.
We'll be using these envelopes to ship approximately 75% of our orders, so chances are high that you'll get one.
And as a special celebration this month, we promise that if you place a Goblin order, you'll receive it in one of these extra special Project Packs #1.

 Malabrigo Rios Yarn $13.60
|
The rich softness and unparalleled kettle-dyed colorways of Malabrigo Worsted are now available in superwash! Rios is a 4 ply worsted weight yarn that comes with a generous 210 yards per 100g hank. One skein easily makes a hat, cowl, or a pair of fingerless gloves. Leanne just finished the Welted Fingerless Gloves from Churchmouse using a hank of Rios and she refuses to take them off! They make great gifts and you can easily get 3 pairs out of just 2 skeins!
|
Regia World Ball Color Yarn $14.95
|
For those soccer fans out there (or anyone who appreciates international sports), we are now carrying World Ball Color! These 100g skeins of machine washable sock yarn come in the self-striping colors of countries from around the world. Initially Regia created these colors to help fans support their teams at the World Cup, but we find that many of these colors work just as well for everything from a gift for a granddaughter studying foreign languages to stripy candy cane socks! With Christmas just around the corner, we suggest #2601 Italy and #2611 Rome as a great all-in-one holiday-themed yarn!
|
Tahki Stacy Charles Luna Yarn $14.00
|
Sparkly yarns are in vogue this season, and we're happy to introduce one of them: Luna from Tahki Stacy Charles! I usually avoid yarns that have metallic elements (their texture often reminds me of steel wool) and while I love anything that glitters, comfort always comes first. Fortunately Luna is a mohair and silk blend with just a hint of Lurex that adds a glimmer of glam without sacrificing the airy softness of this lace weight fiber you'll love wearing next to your skin. Use 1, 2 or 3 strands for a weightless cowl or wrap, or double strand it with another yarn for a truly scintillating fabric!
WOOL WATCHER ALERT: we'll be putting a few hanks of a few colors on Wednesday, October 6th.

Churchmouse Classics Patterns - English Mesh Lace Scarf $5.00
|
We started carrying Churchmouse patterns a few months ago, and they have been flying off the shelves ever since! In response to their high demand we expanded our inventory to include a few more and the English Mesh Lace Scarf in particular has been an instant success! A great pattern for beginning lace knitters, this scarf carries the option to add beads for an extra bit of elegance! We recommend trying two hanks of the Honor in Goblin for a deliciously soft rendition of this popular pattern!

Introducing...The Meadow Bolero
Remember us mentioning that we'd be showcasing the talent of 7 independent designers over the next 7 newsletters?
Well, here's the first one! These designs were written specifically for our Misti Landscape Collection colors and have quickly become some of our favorite patterns.
And did I mention that they were on our free patterns page?

the Meadow Bolero looks stunning in the one-of-a-kind hand painted Landscape colorways.
With instructions available for three sizes, this shrug is flattering on every figure and perfect for layering as the fall and winter months approach.
Check it out...and be sure to look for future designs from Heather Miller -
with designs and photography like this, she'll quickly become a household name.

A little more about the Designer: Heather lives and knits on the beautiful Central Coast of California with her adoring husband and several psychotic pets. She has a Bachelors Degree in Landscape Architecture and loves to expand her design senses into the fiber world.
Impressed? (we are!) You can find more of her work over at http://ThemKnits.wordpress.com/ or on Ravelry as hmiller82
