The following introduction was written by our very own Leanne:
We've all been in that situation where "the grass is greener on the other side," and this month's color is dedicated to that melancholy feeling.
Just in case you have only experienced the "greener side," here is the story of how we discovered this color's name.
Laura, our fearless leader, was getting ready to travel on a journey of epic proportions to Stitches West as part of her never ending quest to
bring the joy of fiber to everyone, everywhere. While talking with her good friend Kristen Muench, another crusader for the joy-of-fiber cause
(also from Muench Yarns - the brains behind Touch Me, Big Baby and Family) about her upcoming vacation, Laura expressed her desire for a much needed vacation. Kristen responded with her wish that she could abandon her vacation and partake in the yarn-mazingness that is Stitches. They both laughed about Kristen wanting to go to Stitches and Laura wanting a vacation -both thinking the grass was greener on the other side... and lo! Another Limited Edition Lorna's color was born! The Grass is Greener is a less-than-melancholy flow of springy green (the other side) to cheery yellow to earthy brown (where you stand) and back to green suggesting that maybe you were on the green side the whole time ;) If you are looking forward to starting those summery project in vibrant colors but not quite ready to let go of the snow and/or cooler temperatures, this color is a perfect warm-up! The Grass is Greener sports warm, earthy tones with just a bit of zesty spring hues!

Speaking of new Limited Edition colors, we do have a little bit left of the color from Stitches West 2010!
We just brought it back with us a few days ago and are ready to ship it out to those of you that weren't able to make the event.
Stitches West 2010
Peppermint Mocha
|
We introduced this stunning (and wildly popular) color at Stitches West last weekend... and needless to say, 9 out of 10 people that saw our
display of the color told us that it was making them hungry! Fitting, considering that on the way to the event we stopped at a Starbucks
and were given samples of their new Dark Cherry Mocha. Yummy!
If you don't have time (or the inclination) for a trip to Starbucks or
weren't in the neighborhood of Santa Clara last weekend, there are still a few hanks
available in
Shepherd Sock,
Shepherd Sport,
Shepherd Worsted,
Helen's Lace,
Lion and Lamb.

Now that you've filled your baskets with green grass and peppermint mocha, you're going to need
some ideas for using it! Below are a few new things that have hit the shelves - and that we think you might enjoy. :)
Beaded Stitch Markers - The Grass is Always Greener $24.00
|
Inspired by the Lorna's Limited Edition color for March, these stitch markers are made with natural stones. Along with a love of yarn and knitting, Victoria also has a strong interest in gemstones and what they bring energetically to the world - other than just looking so beautiful! This set of markers is made with Prehnite, Green Garnet and three kinds of Jade.
And since these beads are natural stones, some of them have markings or veins running through them that occur naturally. More often than not these imperfections make the stone more beautiful.
Prehnite is said to be a stone of unconditional love and to enhance inner knowledge. Garnet in general, is a plentiful stone and is good for energizing and regenerating, for bringing courage and hope. Jade has many metaphysical properties, one of which is to promote self-sufficiency. Yes, the Grass is Always Greener sometimes, but we hope you enjoy where you are today!
|
 Dolce Handknits 903 Charlotte $5.50
|
2-4 hanks of the Lion and Lamb would make this little cardigan simply shine... The perfect little sweater for a summer wedding,
you could also use the Shepherd Worsted (for less shine) or the Crystal Palace Kaya for a tweedy look.
|
Never Not Knitting - Cosette Wrap $5.50
|
The newest design in the Never Not Knitting Pattern line, The deep curved shape of this shawl is created by use of short rows (and looks like a ton of fun to us!).
The finished shawl is 60" by 16.5" and uses about 500 yards of the main color (so, 3 shepherd worsted) and 75 yards of the edging color (about 1/3rd of a hank).
|
 Turtle Measuring Tape $9.95
|
The latest in Lantern Moon's series of adorable tape measures, this crocheted turtle has captured our hearts. He's 5" in length... until you pull his tail!
Squeeze his body to retract the tape measure - in addition to being a handy measuring device, this turtle provides hours of entertainment!
|
The Knit Kit - Turquoise $19.95
|
Check out the new color! The knit kit that you have grown to love (and that will be featured on the Martha Stewart show next week!) now comes in a new color: turquoise.
|
 Electric Yarn Ball Winder $89.99
|
Convenient and Quick, these ball winders eliminate tedious hand winding! You can easily wind hanks of yarn into center-pull skeins and create flat bottom balls that stack neatly. So clever :)
|
 Bali Handuk Shopper $112.00
|
We're crazy about these delightful bags and clutches from Bali for so many reasons! We love their artful combination of color, pattern and texture.
The needle punch method used on 100% cotton oxford creates a cloth that is impervious to insult.
Most importantly, we are pleased that Lantern Moon has partnered with the artisans who make these bags, a group of 60 single mothers in Bali whose courage and heart inspire us!
(Oh - and the reasonable price doesn't hurt either... and while I love the red bag, I think it might pick up a white one to start off the Spring.)

Iris Monster Kits!
Iris the Gourmet Monster is far from being the scary monster hiding in your closet, on the contrary, she is downright adorable and friendly to boot! She knits up in several different sizes from hand-held (13") to huge (22"), and maintains a high level of cuteness in every color, an attribute of which I am more than a little jealous. Iris is a new kit from Lorna's Laces and was quit a hit at the TNNA convention this January. And really, who could resist that face and those gangly arms just asking for a hug? I know I fell in love with her and can't wait to knit myself a new buddy with whom I can watch my favorite French films and use for a pillow on my next big adventure!
Note that the kit we have uses 2 hanks of the Lorna's Laces Revelation and includes the yarn, pattern, eyes, and mouth (US 10 needles not included).
You'll want US 10 needles... and the Revelation version is about 22" tall when finished. The best part about this kit?
The pattern also includes instructions for versions knit with Shepherd Worsted (15" tall - 1 hank), Shepherd Bulky (19" tall - 2 hanks),
and Green Link DK (13" tall - 1 hank)!
