You better watch out (and start knitting!) because Sandy Clause is coming to town!
The winner - Sandy Clause!
We did something a bit different this December and asked members of our Lorna's Limited Edition Fan Club to choose this month's color! I think they
did a fabulous job, don't you? Thank you to everyone who voted! We would also like
to congratulate our very own Sandy who created this beautiful colorway and Alyson
Scott who came up with the exceptional name "Sandy Clause"! If you haven't joined
our LLE Fan Club on Facebook yet, we encourage you to do so! It's free and simple,
all you have to do is click the "Like" button on our page! Members are privy to
special events such as this contest, as well as drawings for free yarn and exclusive
savings... like this month's deal on Lantern Moon Sheep Measuring Tapes (available in 4 colors)!
A bit more about Sandy Clause which, like every Limited Edition Color, has a story
behind it! Before Sandy was handling yarn 24/7 (at home AND at work), she was a
welder in California. Being a woman in that profession can sometimes make for lonely
work but her foreman, Roger Running Hawk, welcomed her into the fold immediately.
They became good friends and ended up working several welding jobs together over
the years. Roger was a Sioux Native American and the inspiration for Sandy Clause
came from traditional colors used in Sioux crafts and artwork that reminded her
of him.
December's color is not only a jubilant combination of turquoise, terracotta, cranberry
and earthy brown, it is a reminder for all of us of the wonderful people that have
become a part of our lives. These rich holiday hues are a refreshing deviation from
the traditional reds and greens that dominate this time of year. Whether you're
knitting up a hat, sweater, or shawl, Sandy Clause is a cheery choice to brighten up the winter months!
And don't forget that the Limited Edition Color is now being dyed in small quantities
of Misti Alpaca's Baby Me Boo yarn! Feet pleasing Heel is also available as an exclusive Sandy Clause item... and it makes for a great stocking stuffer!

Read One, Knit Too
We have stacks of new books full of how-to's and spectacular projects! Sandy was
just saying the other day how she has enough books...until lo and behold, the following
must-have gems arrived on our doorstep!
|
|
For all you fans of Debbie Stoller, author of the Stitch 'N Bitch series, you'll be thrilled
to hear her newest book is now available! Stitch 'N Bitch Superstar Knitting features all those advanced techniques
you've been dying to try like double knitting, lacework, and beading. Of course,
there are plenty of trendy patterns included to try out your new skills!
|
|
We went a little kit-making crazy with this book as every pattern is just too good to be true, such as the ultra-comfy Little Red Riding Hoodie, the fanciful Dress to Impress Baby Tunic, and the Love Me Or Leaf Me Bag.
Another addition to a popular series is Sock Yarn One Skein Wonders. With page after page of one-skein projects,
this book is great for anyone who enjoys working with finer-weight fibers. For all
of the knitters out there who signed up to knit all of their friends and
family gifts this year and are running out of ideas, time, and money...there's no
need to fret any longer! This is the book for you!
|

|
|
In fact, now that we just got in Koigu's KPPPM, I'm slating to make a few lucky friends of mine these fantastic beaded fingerless mittens. I also have a certain special someone in mind
for this spectacular Linen Stitch Scarf, knit in the luscious Misti Hand Paint Sock!
|
Lover of top-down knitting? Be sure to check out Modern Top-Down Knitting by Kristina McGowan! Brimming with tips and tricks
for the top-down method, this book also has a ton of gorgeous patterns for pullovers,
tunics, skirts and more! We absolutely loved the Mulberry Hat, a fantastic gift idea using only three balls of Debbie Bliss'
classic Cashmerino Aran.
|
|
This book also has some great patterns for the cold season, gauranteed to keep you
warm and stylish, such as the simple but oh-so-cozy Feather Dress and the comfy kimono-like elegance of the Blueberry Cardigan.
I would be remiss not to mention one of my favorite books for winter knitting, Cowl Girls! Author and designer Cathy Carron (also the author of Hattitude) has really outdone herself with this one. With over 30 chic
and trendy cowl patterns to choose from, you won't have an excuse to be chilly this winter! I'm pretty much in love with the bulky Queen of Hearts Cowl as well as the Haute Cowlture Cowl knit in the super soft Rowan Cocoon!

Lantern Moon Interchangeable Needle Sets
If you've been shopping around for an interchangeable needles set -either for yourself
or for your favorite knitter- consider the new wooden interchangeables from Lantern
Moon. Available in Ebony or Rosewood, each set comes with a fashionable silk case that keeps these
beautiful needles easily organized. The tips themselves are expertly crafted and
fit so comfortably in your hands that you'll never want to put them down!
Many knitters choose wood over metal needles since metal tends to draw heat away
from the fingers - which can be quite a crisis for those of us suffering from cold-finger
syndrome! The cable lengths for these sets include 17", 26", 32" and 40". Why 17
inches? Well, that extra inch (in lieu of the standard 16") allows for the tips
to be made a bit longer, creating more versatility when knitting with the longer
length cables. Don't worry, the 17th inch won't make a difference for nearly all
of your projects requiring a 16" circular needle and the comfort and ease provided
by the longer tips will make knitting with these sets all the more enjoyable!
