Ok, let's be honest. I think it's pretty safe to say that my favorite color is brown.
So much so that the girls at the shop constantly tease me about being obsessed with it
(maybe because 80% of my recent projects have been in shades of brown?).
So naturally, when it came time to choose the color for now 2 month old Huck's nursery, my vote was for shades of brown.
Don't get me wrong - I do like blue...really I do, but I just couldn't imagine an entire room
in shades it...and without any brown! Sure blue is supposed to be calming, but what about a crying
baby is calming, anyway (and believe me, this kid has lungs)? Needless to say, we settled on two
colors for his room: brown for the bottom few feet of the walls, and a light blue for the top,
separated by a jungle-themed border. We liked the color scheme so much,
we thought we'd share it with you in this month's color Huck's Room.
Maybe the combination of blues, browns, and in-betweens will be a common ground for you and say,
the person you're knitting for!
Quick Note: you might have noticed the inclusion of a few new yarns in the list above:
Swirl Chunky and
Swirl Dk. Both of
these yarns are being discontinued by Lorna's and we are selling them at 50% Off.
Don't worry, we'll be getting about 50 more colors in September,
but just have them in Huck's Room for now.
Be warned - the Swirl Chunky is moving fast (though i like the Dk better, in all honesty)!

What is it they say about the best laid plans? Well, in this case, we say they result in sale yarn!
Lorna's Laces has just sent us a few lots of colors that are just...one off. Similar to other colors,
but more saturated than the color they were intended to be, means you have the opportunity to work with
a virtually one-of-a-kind color--at a 10% discount!.
Just a couple bags each of eight colors are available
in Shepherd Worsted, Shepherd Sport, and Shepherd Sock
(note: colors may not be available in all three weights
and are named JBW A, JBW B, JBW C, etc...).
We're sure you'll never see anything quite like these beautiful 'One Offs' again! (and we'll be taking
more photos of the colors in a few days.)

GoKnit! Pouches
We're always joking around the shop about how we all need to get off the couch and go for a walk more often.
The biggest argument of course is that you can't knit while excercising...or can you? The Goknit Pouches
by Knowknits might just be the answer! Available in Small (8" by 6") and Medium
(11" by 8"), these handy little pouches have an
exterior loop with a snap that attaches to your belt/belt loop, and an interior loop to keep yarn from tangling. Just drop your yarn ball and any accessories
you might need along the way into the pouch, clip it on, and go knit! Take the dog for a walk, go to the gym, etc. all with your knitting by your side.
We are carrying these bags in six solid colors and classic green camo.
That brings me to the latest addition to the Knowknits line... I'm always forgetting
my reusable shopping bags when I go to the store, so I couldn't help myself when the
Goknit Green Pouch
arrived in the shop! More than a knitting tote, it doubles as a reusable grocery/toy/bookbag.
When not in use it folds into its interior pocket and clips to your purse/belt,
and unfolded it measures a whopping 20" x 20" and will carry up to 10lbs of whatever you might pick up.
Plus, all Goknits are made from machine-washable nylon ripstop fabric. Also available
in six solids and classic green camo. Brilliant!
New Noni Patterns
The Fall 2009 Noni line is here! I just can't get over how creative their designs are, season after season...
I am 99% positive that i am going to knit the Noni Classic sweater below. (I think i'm going to make it in the
new Rowan Felted Tweed Aran
that arrived last week... it's machine washable!)
Anyway, there's an amazing variety of patterns in the new collection, six in all. Though this season's patterns seem to
focus on women and children, Ashley was joking that the Bowling Ball Bag could be made for a man with a few quick changes.
There really is something for everyone. Some of the team's favorites are below - enjoy!
Lorna's Sock Patterns
Now that you've got all of this gorgeous sock yarn, what are you going to do with it??! We just received a few new (new to us)
sock patterns to go with all of this sock yarn we've been carrying... Each pattern is $4.50 and a few of the ones i want to make are below:

Dalbergia Circulars :: Save 40%
Lantern Moon Needles
|
Since the last shipment of
Lantern Moon Dalbergia Needles
sold out so quickly, we figured we better order some more.
Still 40% off, these needles are similar to the rosewood Lantern Moon needles,
but have more visible wood grain and a wider color range.
They are handcrafted using the same 'liquid silk' finish, so the look and
feel of these needles is unmistakably the superior quality you have come to expect from Lantern Moon.
And, they are $16.50 a pair instead of the normal $27.50. You can't beat that!
|
Colinette Jitterbug
and Point Five
:: Save 40%
We bought the rest!! Like the Lantern Moon Needles, this yarn sold sooo quickly that we decided we needed to
order more once we found out that we could! We've got the rest of the Jitterbug and Point Five on its
way to us right now - we should receive it around August 5th - and all of our stock will be 40% off regular price.
And, i promise, we won't be able to get more this time. We'll be taking pictures next week, so
make sure to check back soon...

We're Hiring! Do you live in the Reno area? Are you looking for a job working around your favorite thing, yarn?!
We're currently hiring for 2 different positions: a full time retail associate and a part time order support associate.
Hours are relatively flexible, computer experience and a friendly attitude are musts, knitting
expertise is not required but we do require that you be willing to learn! If you are interested in additional
details, please email us at support@jimmybeanswool.com.
We hope to hear from you!
|
|
Have you ordered from us lately? And wondered what happened to your candy?!! Well, we've responded to
your requests and thought that summertime
might be the perfect time for a temporary change... instead of 2 jolly ranchers or starmints, each package that ships out
will include a few assorted split ring markers (4 markers, to be exact)! (If you are like all of us at JBW,
you can
always use a few extra ring markers... like 2nd socks, they inevitably seem to disappear.)
