We're the Vogue Shop of the Issue!

Wow. It's been one one heck of a year for all of us at Jimmy Beans Wool. From Fortune Small Business to knitting with Scott Baio before the Emmys to CNN.COM and NPR, it's a wonder that my wrinkles haven't doubled since last July. Our latest, and perhaps most exciting (though it's hard to top Scott Baio), news came to us last month. Vogue Knitting (THE magazine for knitters worldwide) selected JBW as their featured shop for Holiday 2008!! If you have a copy of the issue, you can flip to page 28 and read all about how we got started, why we carry so much Lorna's Laces Yarn - and what plans we have for updating our website. (Note - the revamped look and feel, as well as LiveChat, are coming soon. We're furiously working as hard as we can - and have encountered a few stumbling blocks - but are hoping to have everything live in the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned - we've got lots more planned!!). Speaking of plans, if you've been in our Reno shop lately - or been on the phone - you've likely heard the screeching sounds of construction. Because this past year has been so intense - and we're falling all over each other every day - we decided to add a little more square footage to the shop. Starting next week, our shipping area will double in size... giving each of us a little more personal space (anything is more than zero, right?) - and we'll finally have room for in-store classes. Anyway, just wanted to let you all know - we're about to get a lot more efficient (and post a bunch more videos - instructional and product reviews, too!). In case you're interested, Ashley posted pics on the blog last Friday.

One of the reasons that we've been running out of space is the HUGE Rowan shipment that we received a bit ago. 44 very LARGE boxes were delivered to the shop - and we had virtually nowhere to put them. Thank goodness for Ashley, Amber, Karla, and the rest of the shipping team. What would we do without them?!! Fun Yarns and Fun Videos ... from the Cast of JBW

A few weeks ago, we decided to do video reviews of the Dolce Handknits Patterns. Though we don't go into a ton of detail about the pattern itself, we thought it might be helpful instead to talk about (and show you) what the finished garment looks like... we hope you agree! What We're Working On

Even if i'm not working at the computer, my fingers are still going... they're just knitting instead. Same with the wonderful girls in the store! Below is a sampling of what we've gotten accomplished lately (on the knitting front, that is). ... Sure looks like we all like Blue, eh?

Sandy's Artyarns Beaded Silk Scarf	When the Artyarns Regal Silk Yarn arrived, Sandy jumped right into the box and started picking out colors! This scarf is going to be featured in a future issue of Knit n Style (comes out in February) and was knit by alternating yarns - 2 rows of the regal silk, 2 rows of the beaded and sequined...both in color 173. (The free pattern will be on our website next week).
Jeanne's Beaded Handle Bag	I have been given the privilege of designing the pattern for the bag that will go with these amazing Grayson E Beaded Handles! Wow, what an honor and so much fun to play with too! I decided on a 3 color design using the Manos Del Uruguay yarn. I chose a new color, Mermaid, and put it together with Coffee, and Navy. I must admit that I had a little help from the rest of the Beans, including Laura. The handles are going to be available in 2 sizes and I think this is the small size and the beads are primarily handmade. We should be getting them into the shop any day now. I will have the pattern done really soon, as I am currently working on the finishing touches now. Happy Knitting - Jeanne.
Soft Linen Hoodie - The Hood is Almost Done!	I've finished the front and back - blocked both - and sewn together the shoulder seams. I only have another inch or two left on the hood... then i'll probably finish the button part of the front, then do both sleeves. I will hopefully be done by 2009!!
