There are a million projects we haven't done but just you wait (with your choice of a fingering or worsted weight)!
To celebrate the arrival of our favorite historical musical into our living room, we just had to dream up a new project! We can knit along as the story unfolds, the instrumentals swell, and the lyrics are delivered with a punch! For a lot of us, this will be our first time watching it, and for those of us who are a little more seasoned in the dramatic retelling, we couldn't be more excited to share the experience! Selfishly, now we won't get as many strange looks from our friends when we burst into song in the middle of a conversation.

We're gonna Rise Up (time to knit a stitch) with this trendy beanie! Using two skeins of Madelinetosh Farm Twist in Dirty Panther and Rye Bourbon, this beanie uses basic brioche stitch to add a little pep in your step! This project is great for any intermediate knitter out there with a hankering to test your skills!
Perfect for any season, it feels like beanies never really go out of style!

Are you more of a shawlette person? Have no fear, because Past Patiently Waiting is a glimmery design using a special, exclusive colorway of Madelintosh TML + Copper yarn, cheekily referred to as A. Ham.
This colorway was expertly crafted with a certain star in mind, painted with a gorgeous blend of coppery tones, yellow hues, and black speckles.
Both kits come with exclusive stitch markers and a Ravelry download code for the patterns which were designed by our Bean, Adrienne Anila. The patterns in each mirror the musical cues and motifs woven throughout the story with piano flourishes and vocal scales!

A little birdy mentioned to us that something exciting has been cooking up in the Madelinetosh Headquarters! We took a stroll through the warehouse, picking up on the team's hushed whispers and averted gazes and, well, what can we say - curiosity took over! We had to find out what the big deal was about! We found an opportunity when no one was around, stealing away down the hallway until we found ourselves in front of a door with "Top Secret" written on it in comically large print. Hmm, well, if they wanted it to be a secret, they wouldn't make it so obvious like that, right? Right! So we took the plunge, reaching for the door knob.
Upon opening the door, we were absolutely shocked at what we had found! We uncovered the dye team talking with a familiar fiery redhead in a lab coat. No, it couldn't be - it is! It's Vickie Howell!! The jig is up! We've caught them red handed (and it wasn't just the dye)!

They've been working on the delightful summery Madelinetosh + Vickie Howell Collection! A limited edition palette of five, happy shades inspired by the lovely Vickie Howell and her irresistible smile! This collection is lovingly referred to as the High Five Collection and features delicious colors like Snaps and Pinky Swear! We like to think of this as a love note to our most reliable tool - our hands, of course! This collection is available in Tosh Merino Light, with the exception of Spirit Fingers, which is a TML + Tweed exclusive!
|
|
The excitement doesn't stop there, though, because we've uncovered patterns to coincide with this release! These designs include knit and crochet wrist warmers, cleverly named High Five, which are as sassy as they are fun! We've also fallen in love with the Vivid Valentine Scarf, which uses an eye-catching combination of eyelet lacework and stripes, utilizing all of the collection's colors - we're thinkin' this is gonna be our new summertime staple for sure!

A.S.A.P.: (As Soon As Purl-Ssible)
Okay, storytime.
Two summers ago, one of our Beans had a small staycation at the beautifully blue Lake Tahoe (which is just a hop, skip, and a jump away from Jimmy Beans HQ). He's a little bit of a vampire, so being out in the sun was a no-go, and he needed something to hold his attention until the sun started to dip past the mountaintops and he could safely sit on the bank of the lake without burning up. He had a singular ball of Madelinetosh A.S.A.P. yarn and size 11 needles. The answer was clear.
He feverishly searched for a pattern that used exactly what he had on hand and sat on the couch fumbling and cursing under his breath before finally figuring out how to do the long-tail cast-on. This pattern he chose threw him for a loop (hehe!) because of the eyelets in it, but he stumbled along (foolishly forgoing the need for stitch markers), and eventually, he was able to bind-off. He started this project in the early hours of the morning and finished the same day. Sure, it isn't the prettiest project, and it's not entirely appropriate for the weather, but he was filled with such pride in the fact that he had taught himself a new skill!
This was an eye-opening experience for him, and Madelinetosh A.S.A.P. was the perfect yarn to learn with! This single-ply, super bulky yarn made it easy for him to see his stitches and keep from splitting his yarn (even though he knit really tightly)! Madelinetosh A.S.A.P. also knits up super quickly, making it the optimal choice for anyone who has that insatiable desire to make something fast and easy!
Like all Madelinetosh yarn, if you see a shade and fall in love with it, but it's listed at 0 inventory, you can still order it! We'll send you over an email confirming your purchase and get that color on order, well, ASAP!

Sittin' On The Veranda
Knitting up our Miranda (Cardigan) It's no secret that a lot of us have a sweet tooth (or two) for luxurious wool, and this sweet tooth is only rivaled by the insatiable need to treat our project bags by actually indulging in those soft and supple fibers! Window shopping never works because when we see something we like, we have to have it! Kate Davies Ard-Thir yarn is the perfect blend of Peruvian Highland wool and superfine alpaca to make even the most seasoned maker feel an irresistible urge to pick up a skein!
Our bean, Amy Gunderson is no stranger to this feeling.
"I don't need it," she tells herself under her breath. Of course, this is said only a few minutes before she finds herself waiting in line at the checkout counter holding the yarn in question. It's a more common problem than us makers are willing to admit! Amy then scurries home with her spoils and sits down, staring at them as she tries to figure out a project worthy of such glorious yarn!
That's why the Miranda Cardigan is the perfect project to sink your needles into! The classic design by Amy Gunderson meets the timeless feel and heavy worsted weight of the Kate Davies Ard-Thir yarn, melding together in harmony. This piece is worked seamlessly from the top down with an eye-catching design using slipped stitches and yarnovers to create an elegant texture!
Want something a little more appropriate for your autumn wardrobe? The Swingback Hoodie and the Larimar Scarf keep you bundled up in style! By getting a headstart on your cool-weather projects, you can rest easy and take your time before breaking out your finished garments as soon as that first leaf turns yellow!

You may have noticed a new face scampering around the Jimmy Beans website over the past few months. You see, we're suckers for cute little animals that have a knack for finding adventure. "What adventure?" you may ask. Sniffin' out some sales!
A few months back, the Beans had a contest to dream up a puppy to hunt down good yarn at better prices - like a pig snuffling for truffles. We all came together with our drawings and names and had you guys vote for your fave over on Instagram! Of course, they were all loved to bits (because, seriously, who doesn't love puppies?) but one pup was just a little more eager to hunt some hanks!
His name is Watson the Wool Watcher Puppy!
Watson was designed by our Bean, Wren, and was based off of a Miniature American Shepherd (of course, he had to be a herding dog!). He's a chipper little fella with his eye on the prize and a passion for finding some fibers! The kerchief tied around his neck periodically changes to reflect the time of year, so keep an eye out for his next wardrobe change!
Need a refresher on Wool Watcher? Wool Watcher is a rotating list of products for knitters and crocheters available at super low prices for short periods of time! This can range from anything like yarn to accessories to kits to patterns! Each product is only available at that price for the time remaining or until it sells out! Check out what Watson found over on our official Wool Watcher page!

Projects On Our Needles!
Wendy's Coronis Pullover
While doing some spring cleaning, our Bean, Wendy, discovered her copy of Pom Pom Quarterly Issue 10 and sat on the floor while she flipped through the pages. She quietly ooh'd and ahh'd to herself before landing on the Coronis Pullover and decided she HAD to make it!
It's been a little hot here in Reno, so she modified the sleeves to be short and sassy (which reflects her own personality)! Wendy excitedly knit up a palette of colors that she had previously fallen in love with - now was her chance! Knit from the neck down, perfect for layering, and easy to adjust, this pullover is great for any adventurous beginner!
Wendy used the shade Cactus Flower for her main color but Coquette Deux is a great substitute! The Coronis Pullover is also available as a kit on our site!
