'Twas the month before Christmas and the skies have been gray. To lift our spirits, we've got a year in review for Namaste!
Phew! WHERE has the time gone!? Namaste had quite the journey this year through new colors, bag styles, and case styles, as well as the bittersweet goodbye to some of our old styles - we will miss you, Maker's Tote Bag and Maker's Foldover Bag! This year presented new opportunities to grow and change into the modern styles and shapes we have available now! Not only do these bags help organize our projects, but our personal items as well - it's a win-win! Today, we're going to take a trip down memory lane with a Namaste year in review:
|
New Bags- The Maker's Circle Bag: Perfectly petite, this bag is adorable either as a clutch or a cross-body. Opening up accordion-style, this bag is a great choice for anyone with a small, single-skein project - or to just cradle your bits and bobbles as a personal bag!
- The Maker's Hybrid Belt Bag: This baby is like four bags in one (uh, BOOYAH!), and is complete with three satisfying snaps plus a magnetic closure for extra security. This bag is wonderful for those of us who want just a little more flexibility in our lives.
- The Maker's Backpack: Okay... We know that this design isn't exactly new, but it's one of our absolute favorites! Now available in the new line of fall colors, there's a backpack for everyone to find their own Maker's Nirvana!
- The Maker's Satchel Bag: The go-to bag for any busy bee that needs to have more than one project going at a time and have personal items on them. The external pockets just add to the number of things you can store in here!
|
A New Case
- The Maker's Trunk: Also known around the JBW warehouse as THE ULTIMATE CASE! This case is a big one (and we mean BIG) that cradles your yarn, notions, needles, and just about everything you could think of with ease. Two u-shaped yarn feeders are located at the top of the trunk to accommodate multiple projects and turn it into a classy yarn bowl on-the-go! The ample storage space makes this the ideal case for projects that require multiple skeins at the same time (fair isle, anyone?) and also includes adjustable trays to keep your notions within reach and NOT lost in the bottom of your case for who-knows-how-long!

New Organizers
- The Geometry Trio Circle Zip Mini: Small, sleek, stylish! The Circle Zip Mini pouch features a magnetic interior that can hold items like stitch markers with ease! This lil fella doubles as a coin purse and has a tiny clasp to easily attach it to other bags!
- The Geometry Trio Rectangle Skinny Zip Mini: An absolute wonder for organizing double point needles while still remaining compact and easily accessible! This organizer is here to rid you of the fear of your needles snapping between larger items!
- The Geometry Trip Pyramid Zip Mini: Fun and fashionable, this little wonder can hold a small project, your keys, a small wallet, or just house your notions! The Pyramid Zip is sturdy without being too rigid and easily folds up flat for compact storage!
Good things come in threes! This trio of adorable accessories are also available as a set lovingly referred to as the Maker's Geometry Zip Mini Trio - Geo Trio for short!

New Colors
Painting a rainbow through our roughest days, Namaste was here to remind us to take a step back, breathe, and keep our heads held high. No one can rain on our parade with this year's Namaste shades!! For bags and cases in spring, we introduced Navy, Raspberry, Slate Blue, and White, in spring, arrived Black and Brown, while in fall we brought Chocolate, Cream, Lavender, Purple, and Red on board to round it all out. Oh Snap! Y'all didn't think we would forget about the Namaste Oh Snaps, did you? Available in two sizes (S/M/L and XL/XXL), the aptly names "Brights" color option for Namaste Oh Snaps are here and shining bright in a palette of hot pink, sky blue, and lime green! All of which, happen to mirror a certain lotus!

Craving Cotton Prints!
Some of the Beans have a stash specifically for their cases and project bags! Some are reserved for certain projects, and some are used as a little pick-me-up when the skies are particularly gray - you just can't be sad when you have a pouch with a little sheep on it, it's basically scientifically proven!
The new della Q Cotton Print Collection brings a little bit of flair to our needles, hooks, notions, and yarn! Inspired by the patterns and colors of the hand-drawn indigo batiks in Sapa, these patterns were calling to us, so we HAD to pick some up last time Jimmy was in Ho Chi Minh City! To modernize this collection and really make it pop, we added contrast color blocking (that uses remnant cotton khaki), and a contrast stitching to pull it all together. This collection is as bold and funky as it is functional, so you can kiss those dreary days goodbye!
|
|
One of the cases we're extra excited about is the della Q Crochet Roll! Perfect for all levels of crocheter who want to house their hooks in something a lil special, this roll features the printed indigo fabric and coordinating colors on each side! The pockets in this roll are large enough to hold Addi Swing Hooks, giving ample room for those of us that use hooks with a chunkier handle. 14 of the pockets are labeled via the Craft Yarn Council sizing (from sizes US B-N/ 2.5-10mm) with an additional two non-lettered/numbered pockets! This roll also closes with an elastic band, safely securing your precious cargo wherever you go!

What's In Our Project Bags?
Autumn is like, PREMIUM crafting time. Listen, we know that technically all the time is crafting time, but you gotta admit - making a sweater in fall feels... Correct. Some of us Beans (not naming names *cough cough*) have multiple projects going on at once in the fall! We have a whole system going where we have our difficult main project and then one side project that's knit up completely in garter or stockinette to give our hands and minds a little breather! Here's a peek into what the Beans have goin' on for their main projects!
|
Knit Craftvent
Yes, we know, cast-on day isn't even here yet, and it's oh-so-tempting, but we're being good and waiting to start with the rest of you! This sweet treat was dreamed up by our own Amy Gunderson. Spirits of the Season is a 24-day Knit Along that's separated into 24 magnetic tins that rest neatly on a hanging, metal board.
Containing over 900 yards of beautiful yarn throughout the kit, you will also find various notions and treats! The Jimmy Beans Craftvent Calendar results in a beautiful wrap by day 24 and is suitable for the adventurous knitter and beyond!

Colorshift Shawl
|
Sweaters are nice, but there's something so satisfying about just wrapping up in a shawl almost big enough to be a blanket! From Melanie Berg comes the super-soft, super-HUGE Colorshift Shawl! Combining the rich shades found in different yarns, weights, and colorways, this textured shawl is perfect to show off your knitting skills and let the yarn really speak for itself!
Measuring over 92.5" Long (That's over 7 feet - holy moly!) and featuring delicate drop-stitch stripes, "Just one more row" is quickly becoming our nightly mantra!
|
Rozeta
Intricate, motifs of gothic architecture, and colorful to boot!? Forget a sweata', we're crocheting Rozeta! The CAL started over a month ago, but we tend to march (er, stitch?) to our own drums around here!
Designed by Tatsiana Kupryianchyk of Lilla Bjorn Crochet, this tapestry (or blanket, if you so desire) measures 57" x 69" after blocking, so your hook definitely has its work cut out for it, hehe! This kit requires a size US G/6 hook, and you can find the pattern on the Official Scheepjes Facebook Group (for free!) in English (Both UK and US), Dutch, and German!

Project On Our Needles!
Alex's Simple Knit Sweater
Most people choose to make a scarf or a cowl as their first project when they decide to learn how to knit. Our Bean, Alex, though? She had her eyes on a bigger prize. Jumping in headfirst (needle first?), she made this scrumptiously squishy sweater. Yeah, a SWEATER! She quickly got to work using Rowan Selects Softest Merino Wool and a pattern entirely out of garter stitch! Her stitch definition is fabulous, and now we're starting to wonder if she is secretly an expert in disguise!
Great job, Alex! We can't wait to see what you make next!!
