<!--- CONTENT -->
<p>
With the holidays just around the corner, we figured that now might be a good time to share some inspirational words about knitting and the family.
After all, whether you're visiting friends or family is visiting you, you never know when the opportunity to knit together (or to teach someone to knit) will present itself.
And when better than the holiday season to share the hobby together? For me, knitting has always evoked images of sitting by the fire with friends and family, sipping cocoa (with some Baileys, of course!), and clicking the needles rhythmically.
</p>
<p>
As we all certainly understand, it can be difficult to find enough time to spend with your family these days.
But that doesn't always mean that we can't find time to do the things that we love together...
Just take one of our favorite customers Rhonda and her teenage daughter, Kayla, as an example.
When Rhonda received knitting lessons at our shop for Christmas a few years, Kayla begged to take the class with her.
Kayla picked up knitting quickly (having taught herself to knit a few weeks prior to the class - cheater!!).
For Rhonda the class was an opportunity to enjoy time with her daughter "to sit and relax with Kayla and just knit, rather than go, go, go."
</p>
<p>
Although the classes have since ended, Rhonda and Kayla continue to knit in the evening working on quick projects - scarves and beanies.
Sometimes their interests take them in different directions - Rhonda is learning to knit socks while Kayla does beadwork.
</p>
<p>
But while it might seem a simple matter for one family member to teach another to knit, sometimes good intentions wind up with snarled yarn and frayed tempers. "Beginning knitters tend to forget which way to wrap the yarn around the needle or which side to put the needle through until they've created a habit out of how they hold the yarn." notes another great knitter of ours, Audrey. She admits that teaching others to knit can be challenging (images of the teenage cousins that required a lot of supervision still dance in her head).
</p>
<p>
When her mother accompanied Audrey to yarn stores, she became inspired by the varied colors and the texture of the yarn. She started buying yarn for Audrey to make her scarves and sweaters and eventually asked Audrey to teach her. Audrey was unsure how her mother would take to knitting, but her mother picked up the knit one purl one scarf pattern easily, Audrey only had to show her once.
</p>
<p>
Audrey advises veteran knitters to have patience and a sense of humor when teaching a loved one to knit. "Give yourselves plenty of time, start with an easy project and make a fun afternoon/evening of it." She and her mother started off their knitting lesson with homemade marshmallows and hot chocolate.
Children's books are an excellent source of simple projects that knit up quickly. Scarf or hat kits like
<a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/2KnitWits/2KnitWitsPatterns.asp?specPCVID=8315">2 KnitWits Very Easy Sideways Beanie</a> are also good beginner projects.
Whether it is taking a class together or spending a quiet afternoon at home, knitting can bring different generations together for craft and companionship. "It truly is a blessing to me, and I love how it lets me reflect on things, let my mind wander, talk with my family... and at the same time marvel at the beautiful colors of the fiber." Rhonda says of her knitting. And those are exactly the sorts of blessings that we all need this holiday season!!
</p>
<p>
So, like Audrey and Rhonda, we hope that you'll end up with an opportunity this holiday season to share your love of knitting (or crochet)
with someone you care about... your relationship might just end up being stronger and even better because of it!

This must-have holiday sweater kit is made with GGH Amelie in solid red and GGH Diva, a deluxe ribbon yarn with glass beads.
It's super soft and perfect for the winter holidays! The kit includes the yarn and the pattern and is a STEAL at 60% Off.
</p>
<p>
Not sure you want to knit and wear a solid red sweater this winter? No fear! There's nothing that says you MUST knit
the garment that the kit is intended for... At this incredible price, you'd be doing pretty well to just snatch up the
yarn and add it to your stash. After all, Amelie was always one of our best selling yarns from GGH before it was discontinued.
You certainly can't get much softer than that yarn!

<p>
That's right! We made the big time! Ok, it's really just a paid advertisement in the back of the magazine, but the staff at Martha Stewart
<i>did</i> have to let us in. :) So what's all the hubub? Well, we've taken one of our most popular patterns EVER and created a kit for it...
the Snobuddy Family pattern calls for 9 different colors of gorgeous Berroco Peruvia - and we've done the work of measuring and winding up
all of the colors for you! Plus, now you don't need to buy an entire hank of orange just to knit a few noses.
</p>
<p>
For $35, you get enough yarn to make the entire family, the pattern, and a handy clear zippered bag for storing your project as you go.
Plus, if you use the code offered to Martha readers (on this page: <a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/martha">http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/martha</a>),
you'll get Free Shipping. Place your order today and you might be able to get these knit up in time for the holidays...
How cute would these be, resting on the fireplace mantel? Or what if you attached ornament hooks and hung them on your tree?
Or set them out in a row on your dining room table... the possibilities are endless! (In our house, I can only picture Huck or Wiley playing with them and then chewing on their little noses.)

<p>
The Premiere issue of <a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/StDenis/StDenisMagazine.asp?specPCVID=15908">St-Denis Magazine</a> sold
out soooo quickly, we just knew that we had to carry the yarn!! Available in a broad palette of 18 different colors,
the St-Denis is a traditional, firm dk weight wool with a soft finish - and is priced just right ($7.50 for 150 yards).
My favorite part about this yarn is that I know it's perfect for the patterns in the book...(some of my favs are below)!

When Sandy recently returned from a knitting vacation in Southern California (yes, I'm jealous!), she was
awash(?) with excitement about a "new" pattern line that she had discovered... she begged and pleaded for us to carry these
new designs (ok, she didn't have to beg too hard - it was love at first sight) and we quickly agreed. Although primarily designs
for little girls, i'm finding myself more and more attracted to the lone sock pattern.

<p>
For the 2nd year in a row, we're celebrating the end of a terrific year with a 25% Off Lantern Moon Needle sale (select styles).
Ebony, Blondewood, and Rosewood Sox Stix, Destiny Circulars (Ebony and Rosewood), and the classic Ebony and Rosewood Straights
are all on sale... The sale will last until December 15th or until we sell out (and we don't have a ton in stock),
so you might need to give your honey a gentle nudge if some of these are on your wishlist...
(or you'll have to give <i>yourself</i> a nudge if they are on your friend's wishlist!)
Personally, I'm a big fan of the Ebony Sox Stix - I typically knit the leg of socks of long circulars and then switch to
the double points for the heels. I know it's cumbersome, but it works for me :)

<p>
Save big on some of Debbie Bliss' most popular yarns and colors! The <a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/DebbieBliss/PureSilkDK.asp">Pure Silk DK</a> is exactly what you'd imagine: 100% pure,
luxurious, soft, silky silk. Perfect alone or mixed with a complementary kid mohair.
Need something machine washable for a special baby (or man!) in the family? Try the <a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/DebbieBliss/Rialto4Ply.asp">Rialto 4Ply</a> or the <a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/DebbieBliss/CashmerinoChunky.asp">Cashmerino Chunky</a>
Or maybe it's the cashmere that's appealing, but you're happy to handwash the finished product... that's where the bulky <a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/DebbieBliss/Como.asp">Como</a> comes in.
One of our most popular winter yarns this season, we've got some great overstocked colors (like Ecru!) of the <a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/DebbieBliss/Como.asp">Como</a> on sale for 25% off.
This sale will only last as long as our inventory does, so if you see something that you like, make sure to pick it up now!

Ann's patterns are great for just about any yarn, as she helps you choose the yarn to use by the gauge
and you adjust the patterns by putting in the numbers for your cast on and your decreases, etc.
This warm, fun hat will be someone's holiday gift and you can knit one just as cute too!

<p>
I started knitting this hat on the plane to Germany (i visited Lana Grossa headquarters!) and haven't had a chance yet to finish it. I better hurry! I'm using 3 different colors of the <a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/LanaGrossa/Meringo.asp">Lana Grossa Meringo</a> and making up the stripe pattern as I go.... the colors match his favorite fall and winter jacket - and the yarn is crazy soft - so i think he's going to get a lot of use out of it once it's done.

<p>
Will I ever find time to knit again? I think not... Sadly, this one little sock and the 1/2 hat above are the only 2 projects I've managed
to work on in months (5.5 months, to be exact). And I only made progress on those because i spend 32 hours in or around an airplane last month.
Sigh. Oh well. The hat is a 1 year size and the socks are for a 2 year old, so maybe i'll be able to finish them up before the kid is too big.
Sure. :)

<p>
Who are my favorite fellas, you ask?! They are the heart and soul of our business, the bright spots in our lives... they are
<a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/whoIsJimmy.asp">Buddy and Wiley</a> - our SuperDogs (and best friends)!
For the last 7 years, their photos have adorned the website... the photos rotate - some are of buddy, some of wiley, and many of them together.
They are terrific and patient models and appear on the lower left hand side of many pages on the website
(<a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/secure-html/onlineec/yarnsHome.asp">the yarn home page</a>, for example).
(And if you visit the shop, you'll see framed photos of them on the back wall!)
If you've got fellas of your own, then you can understand how important they are to us... and because of that, we begged and begged the girls
at Lorna's Laces to create a colorway that both honors and represents them. And i think they did a terrific job!
</p>
<div align="center">
<img border=0 width=200 height="150" src="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/images/newsletters/WileyFellas.jpg" alt="Wiley">
<img border=0 width="150" height="150" src="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/images/newsletters/BuddyFellas.jpg" alt="Buddy">
</div>
<p>
Wiley is on the left, Buddy on the right - and they are both patiently letting me photograph them with the
<a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/projectsDetail.asp?projectID=189">sock that i knitted for Huck</a> last week on the airplane.
(i took a quick trip to Munich to [privately] view <a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/LanaGrossa/LanaGrossa.asp">Lana Grossa</a>'s Spring Yarn Line. Lana Grossa not only has BEAUTIFUL YARN, but they are some of the nicest people on the planet... wow. their hospitality was incredible... but that's another story for another day...
Anyway, i think you're going to love this colorway - Lorna's tested out a new dying techinique with this colorway and we really love the way it worked out.
Each dyelot is very different from the next, so yours will definitely be one of a kind (some lots are more solid, some are more variegated, and all are gorgeous)!
</p>
<p>
P.S. Don't forget that the <a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/LornasLaces/SwirlDk.asp?showLarge=true&specPCVID=17106">Swirl DK</a> and

This Knitting Pure & Simple pattern is absolutely PERFECT for the Swirl Chunky... At 120 yards per ball, you'll barely need 3-4 hanks to knit up to a 48" chest.
And talk about knitting something quickly! If you were thinking of knitting a sweater for a friend this holiday season, the price and simplicity
of this garment makes it a perfect contender. :)

<p>
As shown, this fun blanket uses 8 different colors of a worsted weight yarn (i'd go with the Shepherd Worsted), but you could
definitely get creative with the pattern and use fewer colors or even a different weight of yarn. How about 8 different shades of the Swirl DK?
At 150 yards per hank (and only $6.50), you'll want about 8-10 hanks total for the larger size and 3-4 hanks for the baby blanket size. Since the DK is lighter
than the Worsted the pattern calls for, the finished size will end up being smaller, so i'd make 1 size larger...

Ok, this book makes me wish sooo hard that Huck's grandmother knew how to knit! I think i mentioned that Chris from Knitting at Knoon
knit one of her Safari Friends for him (a blue elephant) and he absolutely adores it - he plays with it all of the time. If only we had
someone in the family with enough time to knit him every single little toy in this book,
my little Huckleberry would be a happy camper indeed.

she begged and pestered and pleaded for me to enter the book into the system right after it arrived - she just <i>had</i>
to buy herself a copy (yes, sandy and jeanne keep us in business with their purchases). So, it's in the system and it's ready to
be shipped - and i'm pretty much 100% sure that sandy has already figured out which of the projects she's going to knit first!!

Crochet is back!! The only reason that i ever learned to knit was because i had learned to crochet in college...
and wandered into a yarn shop many years later. The knitting bug bit, i set aside
my hooks, and have been knitting ever since. 9 years later, i'm itching to pick back up the hooks. I really, really want to
make the beanie below - for doug and for huck - and am in love with the patterns in Kathy Merricks new Crochet in Color book.
Plus, the hooks are incredible these days.... rosewood, ebony, and now these Denise interchangeables (and they are GREAT at interchangeables) -
the set even comes complete with tunisian crochet instructions from interweave. So, grab a few hanks of the fellas and get started!
(personally, i'm going to get a hank of the Shepherd Worsted and knit that beanie...)

Since we're talking about sock yarns, I thought i'd mention a few new ones that we've received recently.
Obviously, our favorite is the Casbah from Hand Maiden... with 9% Cashmere, 81% Superwash Merino and 10% Nylon, it's one of the more divine
sock yarns we've ever touched. And the price is just right! (That's my favorite part).
On the other end of the spectrum is the Nashua Handknits Best Foot Forward. It's $13.95 per ball (use 1 ball for a pair of socks)
and the self-patterning colors were designed by knitting genius Kristin Nicholas. The Merino Mia is a dk weight yarn and was designed for those of
us that want to knit socks (and gloves and hats), but don't know if we could ever finish a project on US 2 needles...
Because it and the Saki are from Prism, you can be guaranteed to love the colors.

<p>
Yes, you've read it correctly - we received a HUGE shipment of <a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/LornasLaces/SwirlChunky.asp">
Lorna's Laces Swirl Chunky</a> in tons and tons of incredible colors... and all of them are 50% off! Normally $21 per hand-dyed hank,
this wool and silk blend is on sale for $10.50 per 120 yard hank (it knits best on a US 11 needle).
The silk is actually one of the plies, creating a lighter strand carried the whole way through the hank.
Since the silk takes the dye a bit lighter than the wool, the yarn has a swirly appearance.

Like the Swirl Chunky, the <a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/LornasLaces/SwirlDk.asp">
Swirl DK</a> also just arrived and is 50% off! Normally $13 per hank, the DK has 150 yards per hank and
works up nicely on a US 5 needle. A few of the colors are shown below - we'll be photographing the rest of the colors over the next few days,
but the images below should give you an idea of how Swirl takes the Lorna's Laces dyes... (and if there is no photo, then you'll just get to see a
photo of Buddy or Wiley until the photo gets loaded!). Personally, I love how the nearly-solids came out - the wool took the dye completely,
but the silk only took a fraction of it. The result is a two-toned/tweedy effect that is nothing but fun.

<a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/rewardsHome.asp">Jimmy Beans Bucks</a> have been issued!
If you earned a reward, you should have already received an email stating your reward amount.
If you didn't earn a reward or aren't familiar with this incredible <a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/rewardsHome.asp">FREE YARN program</a> take a look now! In a nutshell, if you have
a JBW account and made purchases last quarter (July 1st - September 30th), you received an account credit equal to 5% of those purchases (with a few rules, of course).
We were very excited to issue even more rewards during this round compared to the first two rounds -- we really hope everyone enjoys this program!! :)

</div>
<p>
Have you had a chance to watch Knitting Daily TV lately? The show has done a great job of
getting the knitting word out there! In the episode shown above, Eunie and the gang give the viewers
a step-by-step introduction to our Knitting for a Cause scarves! She shows how to get started,
how to knit with 5 yarns at once, and how to do the basic stitches required in the pattern.
So, prop your feet up, grab a kit (it is breast cancer awareness month, after all) and get started knitting for a cause!
</p>

Speaking of Breast Cancer Support Month, here's a refresher of some of our favorite Breast Cancer Related Items
(in which a portion of the profits are donated):

this super sale on <a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/kits/ArtyarnsCashmereSockSimpleSocks.asp">Machine Washable Cashmere Sock Kits</a>.

You'll need 2 hanks of
<a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/Artyarns/CashmereSock.asp">Artyarns Machine Washable Cashmere Sock Yarn</a>
to make a pair of women's medium socks (w/5" cuff)...
if you want larger socks or a longer cuff, you'll want to choose the 3 hank kit option.
Um, did i already mention that this yarn is machine washable (and as soft as any sock yarn i've ever felt)?
And it's not all cashmere, so it has plenty of stretch and warmth (it's 67% Cashmere, 25% Wool, 8% Nylon).

<p>
Have you noticed that some of the most exciting yarns these days are sock yarns?
There's soy, bamboo, wool, self-striping, fair-isle, solids, hand paints... just about everything!
So what's a girl to do if she doesn't want to knit socks (or a lace weight shawl)? How about mixing
sock yarn with a filler (we chose <a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/Rowan/KidsilkHaze.asp">
Rowan Kidsilk Haze</a>) and knitting a fun scarf?! That's what we've done - and we couldn't be happier with the results.
<br><br>
The scarf shown was quickly knit up on US 10 needles and only took 2 balls of yarn: 1 Kidsilk Haze and 1 of
Lana Grossa's new soy sock yarn,
<a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/LanaGrossa/MeilenweitSojaPrint.asp">Soja Print</a>.
In addition to the colors shown, we've also put together a few other combinations that we think would look great...
you can see the <a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/freeKnittingPatternCableScarf.asp">free cabled scarf pattern here</a>.

<p>
Am I the only person on knitting earth that just recently learned of this company?
<a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/AslanTrends/AslanTrends.asp">Aslan Trends</a> (Natural Luxury Yarns)... they have been around since 1951!!
Their yarns come directly from the Patagonia and the Andes Mountains (which doug and i visited on our
honeymoon 9 years ago... talk about gorgeous - it was absolutely incredible! Remind me to tell you
someday about the Chilean family that rescued us from the bustop and then proceeded to take us home with them...
to make a long story short, the people we have met in South America are VERY kind, very generous, and terrific cooks. Anyway, back to the yarn -
after previewing the collection from this well respected and established company, I just couldn't resist ordering some.
Not only are the prices terrific, but the
<a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/AslanTrends/AslanTrendsPatternBooks.asp">Aslan Trends pattern books</a>
are beautiful and the fiber is some of the highest quality that i've seen
(the colors are wonderfully true, rich, and deep).
Plus, they have a new kettle hand dyed collection: we're now carrying the
<a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/AslanTrends/SantaFe.asp">Santa Fe sock yarn</a> from that collection
and are tickled pink with the colorways and the texture. As usual, my favorite colorway is the one shown below... browns :)
The <a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/AslanTrends/Artesanal.asp">Artesanal yarn</a> is a softer alternative to Rowan's Summer Tweed,
while the <a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/AslanTrends/Invernal.asp">Invernal yarn</a> is bound to be the hit of the season.
It's simply divine. And, if you've used these yarns before and have an opinion of them, please write a review - we'd love to hear your thoughts.

<p>
With little or no time these days, I'm always looking for a yarn that knits up quickly, feels good on my fingers, changes color by itself, and weaves in its own ends... ha!
Well, the
<a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/Nashua/Champlain.asp">Nashua Champlain</a> hits the mark with 3 of those...
if only Nashua could come up with a yarn that is self-finishing - now that would be a selling point!
At $7.50 per ball, you get 87 yards that knit up on a 9-10 needle... and i love that the colors are relatively muted and natural...
as usual, colors 87-90 are my favorites! I've listed a few project ideas below -
I'm thinking that the fingerless gloves are about my speed right now.

(And what am I going to make with this super soft shipment? well... as you all know, there is noooo way that i'm going to knit anything on a US 2 needle right now ...
even if it is for my little Huckleberry.
Instead, i'm thinking of doubling it up and making him a pair of quick mittens - he's been wearing socks on his hands so far.
Perhaps these

by Ann Norling? And maybe i'll try stripes with the Carbon Teal and Cilantro Melange?)

Speaking of interchangeable needles... store all of <i>your interchangeables</i> in one sleek kit (and save money while doing it)!
Two rows of numbered pockets hold your tips
(24 pockets total, for TWO sets of interchangeables), while plenty of pockets on the other flap hold your cords.
Plus, a small zippered pouch keeps your notions handy. Hand crafted in Vietnam,
and a portion of della Q proceeds support Vietnam Quilts.
In my mind, <strong>the 2nd quality issues</strong> are pretty insignificant (but are still worth mentioning):</p>
<ul>
<li>Top row pocket depth - The top pocket is too deep and goes all the way to the bottom of the 2nd row of pockets.
This means you may need to fish your tips out.</li>
<li>Last 5 pockets are too wide (Which I suppose isn't really a problem,
it means you might even be able to get three sets of tips in them!): the overall width of the case is 16 3/4 inches when it should actually only be about 14 1/2 inches.</li>

<p>
With Fall and Winter approaching (yes, i realize that fall has done more than approach - it's here! i'm just still in denial and still think that it's summer...), you'll see lots of scarves, hats,
and cold weather gear on needles around the shop. I haven't made much progress on huck's noro sweater in the last month,
although i did finally finish one of the sleeves. Only 1 sleeve left to go and it'll be ready for him to wear.
(And no matter how much i wish it were still summer, the rain and snow this morning certainly convinced me otherwise.)
Summer, Fall, or Winter, i hope the projects below provide some inspiration
(and don't forget that you can see larger photos and more details by clicking on the smaller photos below)!

The pattern for this soft and velvety scarf is on the inside of every label of

This scarf took 4 balls on a 10 1/2 needle, knitting one stitch on the string between each ball.
Using the knitted cast on method, cast on about 10 Stitches. It's a good sized scarf so it
doesn't need to be bigger, and you could always make a smaller one, but.... Why??? lol!

Sandy just had to cast on this adorable beret in
<a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/ClassicElite/SoftLinen.asp">Classic Elite's Soft Linen</a> Yarn!
She just knit it up in no time and is so cute in it, don't you think?
It's from one of her favorite magazines, Knit.1 and comes from the Spring/Summer 2009 copy on page 16.
(Btw, she is also wearing the <a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/kits/MistiAlpacaHandDyedWorstedBalsamCowl.asp">
balsam cowl</a> that she knit up a few years ago... the colors are perfect together!

Trying to decide what to knit the neighbors for the holidays? How about an assortment of these gorgeous (and handy) dishcloths?!
Using 1 ball of the <a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/Rowan/Siena.asp">Rowan Siena</a>, Jeanne started knitting this dishcloth in the shop ....
but not while she was working of course - she doesn't want to get in trouble! haha!
She cast on 52 stitches and am using the Double Moss Stitch Pattern from the Vogue Ultimate Knitting Book.

<p>

Ah, Halloween. It brings back memories. Back when i was a kid in Raleigh, my best friend Allison and I used to run wild, especially on
Halloween and Easter. Given the fact that there was an Kerr Drug in walking distance from our house,
Allison and I used to count down the days until the day <strong>AFTER</strong> those famous holidays. Why, you ask?
Because that's when all of the CANDY WENT ON SALE!!! The first day after Halloween would yield prices
at 25% off, 2-3 days later the prices would drop 50%, and eventually every piece of candy could be had for pennies.
We would go crazy. We saved up our kool-aid stand money (that's another story...) all summer for these super candy sales
(yes, we had limited parental supervision those days and consequently bought as much sugary candy as we could afford).
Anyway, I'll never forget those days... and the sheer happiness of knowing that we could get a bag of candy corn - or a peanut butter egg - for a nickel.
(Of course, to date myself, the McDonalds down the street sold ice cream cones for $.26: a quarter plus 1 penny tax.)
So, in honor of my memories of Raleigh - and in celebration of Huck's 1st Halloween season, we've come
up with a color that reminds us of the colors we saw while walking up and down the sale-candy aisles. We hope that these colors
remind you of your own youth. Trick or Treat!
<br><br>
P.S. Don't forget that the <a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/LornasLaces/SwirlDk.asp?showLarge=true&specPCVID=16573">Swirl DK</a> and

Now that you're geared up on all kinds of great new sock, sport, and worsted weight yarn, you're going to need

<p>
Um, this book looks great (and i love the idea that you don't have to perform arithmetic), but i have
absolutely no idea what the word Insouciant means... not to mention whether or not that's the kind of sock
knitter I am. If it means "she who loves to knit socks but can't mentally manage anything more complicated than
stockinette stitch - and rarely finishes 2 matching socks in less than a year", then i guess that does describe me!
No matter what the definition, Cat's new book
<a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/CatBordhi/PersonalFootprintsforInsouciantSockKnitters.asp">Personal Footprints for Insouciant Sock Knitters</a>

This classic ensemble reminds me of the Mary Tyler Moore days (or maybe "That Girl" w/ Marlo Thomas?).
In my mind, there is no other way to describe this hat other than "Smart." It's just smart
- and a bit sophisticated too. 1 hank of the Trick or Treat Shepherd Worsted will get you the smallest sized
hat and neckwarmer, while 2 hanks of the Worsted or the Lion and Lamb will give you enough yarn to knit
all of the other sizes.

<p>
I know, I know. It kinda looks like Navy. But it's not. I promise. It's deeper, darker, and well... more secretive (ha!).
Seriously, Cookie's Deep Dark Secret is a bit more variegated than the Navy - and is definitely a much richer shade of blue.
So blue, it's almost black in spots.
You can really see how it knits up in this photo of Cookie A's finished
<a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/kits/LornasLacesShepherdSockClandestineSocks.asp">Clandestine socks</a>
(the pattern is free on knitty.com and you'll need 2 hanks of the Shepherd Sock).
We also have it available in the standard lineup of yarns:
<a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/LornasLaces/ShepherdSock.asp?showLarge=true&specPCVID=16307">Shepherd Sock</a>,
<a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/LornasLaces/ShepherdSport.asp?showLarge=true&specPCVID=16312">Shepherd Sport</a>,

<a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/LornasLaces/LionandLamb.asp?showLarge=true&specPCVID=16311">Lion and Lamb</a>.
Personally, i think this color is going to go perfectly with Huck's fair skin and bright blue eyes, so
i'm going to grab a hank of the Shepherd Sport and knit up a quick winter hat for him
(i'll use this <a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/AnnNorling/AnnNorlingPatterns.asp?showLarge=true&specPCVID=2315">
ann norling pattern</a>, but will just knit it all in one color - although it would be cute with denim as a contrasting color).
Or maybe i'll get a hank of the Shepherd Worsted and knit up this
<a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/KnittingPureandSimple/KnittingPureandSimpleBabyChildren.asp?showLarge=true&specPCVID=15093">

Here's a quick glimpse at a few new ways to carry around Trick or Treats for knitters...
The <a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/dellaQ/EdenCottonPouch.asp">Eden Cotton Pouch</a> is
a beautiful small bag for toting around mitts or socks in progress - and this season's colors are some of my favorite ("butterfly art" is the one I want!)...
Need to travel for a few days and want to carry more than just 1 set of needles? I'd recommend
adding one of the new Que needle organizers to your wish list. The new solid color line is
called <a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/knitting/yarn/dellaQ/TheQueTheo.asp?showLarge=true&specPCVID=16338">Theo</a> and comes with a choice of numbered or blank tabs. Personally, i favor the
blank tabs - i do most of my knitting on US 8 or 9 needles and almost no knitting with US 3s and 4s,
so i like to be able to customize the tabs to whatever size works for me.
(In all honesty, i have 3 Ques: 1 for sock/dk weight needles, 1 for worsted weight needles, and 1 for my bulky weight needles.)
Oh Yeah! I can't forget to tell you about how brilliant the Buddy Case below is... it comes in 8 different colors and
has hidden magnetized interior walls to keep your metal items in place and a removable interior divider. I LOVE IT!

<p>
That's right we were included in the <a href="http://www.bizrate.com/merchant/coe__mid--184816.html" target=_blank>BizRate Circle of Excellence</a>! Thanks to all of you, we have been recognized for doing a good job by one of the top online research companies in the country, BizRate Research.
If you've ever shopped online with us, you might have been asked to answer a quick
survey at the end of the checkout process. Because of your willingness to answer
questions about our business - and because you've gushed about how nice we are - we
are in the top 3% of companies they review. We are one of only 167 online companies in the country (including Zappos, Crutchfield, Bath and Body Works, Fisher-Price
and more) recognized for our outstanding customer service this year. Thank YOU! And welcome to the Circle of Excellence...
If you're interested, you can see our <a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/secure-html/onlineec/pressRelease.asp?prID=16">complete circle of excellence press release</a>.

<p>
One last reminder to mention before you start shopping... the third round of
<a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/rewardsHome.asp">Jimmy Beans Bucks</a> have been issued!
If you earned a reward, your reward and free shipping coupon are both currently in your account. Just make sure to log into your account while ordering and you will see both. We will be sending out email notifications at the beginning of next week with your reward amount and your personalized free shipping coupon code.
If you didn't earn a reward or aren't familiar with this incredible <a href="http://www.JimmyBeansWool.com/rewardsHome.asp">FREE YARN program</a> take a look now! In a nutshell, if you have
a JBW account and made purchases last quarter (July 1st - September 30th), you received an account credit equal to 5%
of those purchases (with a few rules, of course).
We were very excited to issue even more rewards during this round compared to the previous two rounds -- we really hope everyone enjoys this program!! :)
