Gifts I've knitted for babies have been some of the most enjoyable for quite a few reasons. First, and perhaps most importantly, they're so quick! I might slave away over a sweater for a friend for several months, but a baby sweater is finished over a weekend. Secondly, it's a whole lot easier to choose a project - it's unlikely that the baby (or Mom) will object that the booties and hat are just not quite the right color. And third, the beautiful gift will almost always be truly appreciated and really used - maybe through several siblings or even several generations.
