Jitterbug is soft and beautiful. It makes great socks and hats. The socks are thick and warm. My problem with it for socks is that some colorways (bright charcoal, for example) hold up well and keep their stitch definition and color but another color (an electric blue/green combo) felted and shrunk and bled through all hand washings.
It has a wonderful feel to it and lots of twist, which I like. Even though it recommends a larger needle, for socks I use a size 2.50 mm and come out with a lovely 8.5 spi for this heavier than fingering yarn. Less than DK, more than fingering.
All in all, wonderful for gift items.

| I love this yarn for socks--I've made three pairs using it. I've made socks from other yarns as well--I'm a beginning sock knitter, but I've made about 8 pairs now. This yarn is easy to work with (except that it twists a lot as you're knitting), I get the gauge I need--I use dps #1, and, for some reason, I have less problem with ladders when purling, perhaps because of the firmness of the yarn twist. The best part is wearing the socks. These are the most comfortable socks to wear--I wear clogs and loafers. I wash the socks in the washing machine, using a mesh bag, on the gentle cycle. I've had no pilling problems or shrinking. There are many wonderful sock yarns, and I want to try as many different kinds as possible, but this is my favorite so far. |

Although I haven't used it yet, it feels wonderful! This yarn is motivation for me to complete my current socks! Absolutely beautiful - by the feel, I'm sure it will knit great.
I also have to say, the service was amazing. I placed my order on Friday and had my yarn on Monday! I will most definitely order from jimmy beans again!

....I wear the socks I knit, and I need them to wear well. This wool doesn't.
After the first wearing, I noticed an excessive amount of pilling on the soles. This is possibly due to the somewhat “abrasive” nature of the suede lining in my clogs, but I still found it unacceptable; I don't like feeling that I have to “baby” socks.
The colors are fabulous and long-lasting, and I really like the “feel” of this wool, but I won't use it again for an article that is required to “work” for a living. Maybe a beanie or lacy scarf, but this "sock" yarn is not one I'll use again for socks.

| I have made four pair of socks with this yarn. I have not had enough yarn to make a pair of sox on two different occasions. The yarn itself is wonderful, very easy to work with. You must be careful to make the leg short enough to ensure you have enough yarn. |
