soft and pretty
This yarn is nice and cuddly soft. The colors are soothing and restful. The only problem is that the yarn isn't wound to itself very tightly. Is that what single ply is? You only get one chance to frog it, then it starts looking really tattered. If I were a better knitter, this would be a non-issue. I haven't completed my project so I don't know how durable this yarn is. I'm thinking it would make a wonderfully toasty hat!

Very Nice
I'm not a very experienced lace knitter, but I try! I knitted the Strangling Vines scarfon Ravelry on US #4 needle with this in the Silky Alpaca Lace yarn, but used a nice light green, not the Hand Paint. It turned out nicely, very soft, and fun to knit with. If I had a #3 needle at the time, I think it would have turned out a wee bit nicer for stitch definition, but I am still VERY happy with it. Choosing a pattern for the Hand Paint that I have will be tricky because of the variegation I it, Terra Nova. The colors showed up as being more subtle on my monitor. The colors are actually quite saturated and defined. It is still lovely, and I can't wait to knit with it!

Five stars, but...
It doesn't really matter that much. I expected this yarn Charcoal would be dark gray, like in the photo on my monitor. And I know monitors vary, but this yarn I ended up with is almost black. But it is very pretty, nonetheless. And it is thick and thin, and there is a subtle sheen. I haven't knit with it yet, so I should probably wait to give it five stars, but the color is so rich, I gave it five stars on good looks alone.
