From the pattern: "When I think about what makes a truly good scarf or shawl, it strikes me that to have the 'wrong' side showing makes me feel disheveled. Hence the use of this unusual pattern stitch which is the same on both sides. The nine-row repeat is neatly arranged to create two right sides, perfect for the persnickety."
