From the book: If you have never picked up a pair of knitting needles before, start with this simple blanket. It is worked on very large needles with really chunky wool, so it is very quick to make. Knitted up in a light and airy stitch, it will make a most impressive gift for any new arrival. However, once you have edged it in wide satin ribbon and given it that gorgeous touch of retro glamour, you may well want to snuggle into it yourself. Kit includes Yarn. Pattern Book is optional. Pattern is in Knitting for Two. Suggested US 13 and 17 straight needles and 4 yds satin ribbon 2" wide not included. (Circular needles are listed in the suggested needles box because the blanket is knitted in one piece and may be too large to fit comfortably on straight needles.) Gauge is 6.5 sts = 4" in stitch pattern on US 17 needles.
