From the book: The arrival of a new baby is always a special occasion. This simple shawl is the perfect knitted gift to celebrate a birth or a Christening, when nothing but the best will do. Although it is knitted in a fine yarn, the shawl is worked on quite large needles so it doesn't take too long to make. It is made in five simple pieces: the main part is worked in an easy four-row stitch pattern, while the borders are made up of seed stitch with a fine picot edge. The eyelet holes are knitted in and threaded with a sumptuous satin, velvet or organza ribbon, tied in each corner with a big bow. We have kits for this shawl made with two different yarns: Blue Sky Alpaca & Silk and Blue Sky Hand Spun Organic Cotton. Both are lovely choices for this gorgeous project. Kit includes Yarn. Pattern Book is optional. Pattern is in Knitting for Two. Suggested US 7 and 8 straight needles and 6 2/3 yds. ribbon 1" wide not included. Gauge is 20 sts = 4".
