Overall Kureyon Sock Rating: (3.9 based on 48 reviews) |
Rating: (1 out of 5) |
| Stunning colors!! However it is dyed onto the LOWEST QUALITY YARN I have ever knit with. I bought 2 color ways. The first time, I actually made a pair of socks. Those socks never get worn, because everyone in my house grabs the softer wool socks first. I used the second color way paired with a softer yarn for felted slippers. I will NOT be knitting with Kureyon sock yarn ever again. Until these colors ways get put onto a decent yarn, I will never buy it again! |

| I totally agree: Noro colors are the best out there. So if you intend to use this yarn for something that will never be in contact with your skin, it's fine. If not, stay away! This yarn is so scratchy that I can wear the beautiful scarf I weaved using it only with a turtle neck sweater! Sure it did soften a bit after extensive wetting and blocking and all sort of things, but it is too itchy. I'd rather use a yarn with less beautiful colors, but with some softness and that I can enjoy wearing. To me this is not worth it. |

| Now I understand the Noro craze... the colors are wonderful. The way that the color changes happen make simple patterns look impressive! Everyone on my christmas list is getting a Noro sock yarn scarf, socks or sweater this year. |

| Knitting Laura Chau's simple yet effective shawl' using color 220. Noro's reliably beautiful colors and this yarn work well with this pattern. I do hope the yarn softens after washing and blocking. Would not use this yarn for socks as it is 'thick and thin' in various spots and though it has 30% nylon I can't imagine it standing up to heavy duty required of sock yarn. I will continue to use Noro for its fab colors and am pleased with my shawl project that is 2/3 completed. |

| Nice yarn. Vivid colors. I bought this planning to make a shawl and it will be lovely. I would be concerned about using this for socks as the yarn isn't a consistent width. For that reduction of 1 star. |

| Honestly, when the JBW package arrived, I was surprised by how "not soft" it was. But I cast on a scarf using 2 balls of the same color way. Simple stockinette stitch with alternating rows- 2 rows from each ball. Ended up with a gorgeous striped scarf that looks far more involved than simple straight knitting. It softened while knitting. All issues listed are minor and worth dealing with for the final result. |

| 3 stars for color. I used it to knit a shawl, and it's absolutely horrible to work with! Very inconsistent thickness through out. I can’t stress enough on how the roughness keep clinging on my bamboo needles as if it is hanging on to its dear life! It refuse to slide when I push along my needle. The only thing that kept me going is the look of the gorgeous self-stripping color combination! It does soften up after a good soak, but if you're looking for the silky, squishy softness, then you'll be in for a disappointment. Definitely not meant for sock or anything worn next to skin for that matter!
Well, all that said, would I still buy Noro Kureyon Sock again?! Absolutely! This time, I would use a METAL needle! I’m sold on their lovely color combination. Nice to see, but just don't touch too much! :) Hubby suggested that I put the shawl in picture frame, and hang it on the wall so we can all admire it as an art. |
