Having worked with plastic and metal cable holders, I found this one to be great to work with! The grooves in the wood hold the yarn well, but are easy to slip over when needed. I enjoy holding the wood cable needle more than other types.

Cable needles are never the right size, and tend to be fiddly and twist when you are not holding them. These catch the fiber and the short length is just right. Such an improvement over the metal versions.
