I used the pattern when I made my first sweater. It was smooth sailing until I got to the neck shaping, and I only had trouble with that because I'd never heard of short-rows. The instructions just say "wrap stitch and turn," but I stopped in the store and got help with it, and learned something new. So that's OK. It's a comfy and warm sweater. I really like it (and since it's been over 100 degrees all week, I'm looking forward to colder weather when I can wear it again!)
This was an enjoyable knit, and the finished item using the recommended yarn is lovely. Generally the pattern was very easy to follow - however the sleeve cap shaping is incorrect. Fortunately I have a copy of Vogue Knitting and was able to work through it. Having to do the sums did slow the project down considerably.
I love this shawl, however this pattern is so full of errors, it's not for beginners. The pattern section detailing the hexagons that make up the body of the shawl only contained 1 error, but the rounds for the edging are TERRIBLE! I've been crocheting for a long time so luckily I was able to look at the photo and see what should be done, others might not be so lucky. When not wrong or completely missing information, the instructions are easy to follow and don't use funky verbage to confuse. Just wish they could have had some better editing before I spent money on a pattern I had to figure out on my own!
