Diane Soucy, of Knitting Pure & Simple fame,
has been knitting for 43 years, and teaching classes for the past 18
years. We at Jimmy Beans Wool could not ask for a better knitting instructor!
Teaching Experience
-
First of all, Diane was the 'knitting lady' in a small shop
(you might all remember Diane from the Truckee Variety Store) for 15 years, helping knitters
choose yarn and giving first aid to problem projects.
-
She taught classes here in Truckee, and at yarn shops in Nevada and
California. She taught at Fibervisions in Cool, Ca for 6 years.
-
She enjoys teaching, and tries to make sure students have a good time, and learn
as much as they can. All of our students say that she has an easygoing, patient teaching
style. She brings lots of sample sweater, socks and other garments for
inspiration.
Knitting and Design Experience
-
In 1988, Diane began a 2 year program with the CEEC program sponsored by
TNNA (The National Needlework Association)
and APNR (Association of Professional Needlework Retailers) This included 2 weeks of classroom
work, and 2 years of correspondence work in design. In 1990, she received a
teaching certificate from them.
-
Not only has Diane had patterns published in Knitters magazine, but she
also designs for and runs her own pattern company, Knitting Pure & Simple,
which sells designs to over 300 shops across the country.

Her recent work has focused on the use of computers as a design tool, a field that she finds very challenging and rewarding.
- Ginger is very excited about a project she has just finished, a book for XRX (the publishers of Knitter's magazine). The book, Module Magic, focuses on the unusual designs and construction techniques for which she is known.

- Ginger was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, but has spent most of her life in California. She's married to Arnie, a retired airline pilot and they have two grown sons, both of whom are also airline pilots. She now lives in Grass Valley, CA, a small town in the gold rush country of northern California. She loves living in this mountainous rural environment.
- Ginger's art background influences her approach to designing knitwear and explains her love of hand painted yarns. Her studio is lined with skeins of these colorful yarns, providing an inspiring, colorful backdrop as she designs on her computer or knits
