Directions
- Cast on 70 sts distributed approximately evenly among 3 US 7 double-pointed needles. Place marker and join into round by knitting into the first cast on stitch. Be careful not to twist your work when joining!!
- Round 1: Purl
- Round 2: Knit
- Round 3: Purl
- Round 4: [YO, K2TOG] Rep [] to end of row, ending with K2TOG. 70 sts
- Round 5: Knit
- Repeat Rounds 4-5 until hat measures 2 1/2" from cast on edge. End with a Knit Round.
- Start Decreasing
- Round 1: [K5, K2tog] rep [ ] to end of round,end with K2tog (60 sts)
- Round 2: Knit
- Round 3: [K4, K2tog] rep [ ] to end of round (50 sts)
- Round 4: Knit
- Round 5: [K3, K2tog] rep [ ] to end of round (40sts)
- Round 6: Knit
- Round 7: [K2, K2tog] rep [ ] to end of round (30sts)
- Round 8: Knit
- Round 9: [K1, K2tog] rep [ ] to end of round (20sts)
- Round 10: [K2tog] rep [ ] to end of round(10 sts)
- Round 11: [K2tog] rep [ ] to end of round (5sts)
- Cut yarn leaving an 8" tail. Using an embroidery needle, thread the tail through the remaining sts and cinch closed the crown of the beanie. Weave in the ends.
For the flower:
- Cast on 57 sts on US 7 needle
- Row 1 (WS): Purl
- Row 2: K2, *K1, sl this st back to the LH needle, lift the next 8 sts on the LH needle over this st and off the end of the needle, [YO] 2 times, K the 1st st again, K2; rep from * (27 sts)
- Row 3: P1, *P2tog, drop 1 YO loop, inc 1 (by knitting into the front and back) in the rem YO loop, P1; rep from * to last st, P1 (22 sts)
- Row 4 (this could be done in a contrasting color if desired): K1, *K3tog; rep from *, end K1 (8 sts)
- Row 5: *P2tog; rep from * (4 sts)
- Sl 2nd, 3rd and 4th sts over first st and off the end of the needle. Fasten off and sew seam.
