The Jimmy Beans Wool Breast Cancer Support Scarf Kit :: $55
($5 is donated to the Susan G Komen Foundation.)
|
We need your help!
We've created this simple yet luxurious scarf to be knitted and worn (or given away)
as a show of support for the fight against Breast Cancer. $5 from every kit sold is donated to the Susan G Komen foundation, where it will be put towards saving lives and ending Breast Cancer forever.
By purchasing and knitting the scarf below, you can help us reach our goal of donating $5k by the end of 2008 (we're already 20% of the way there!).

These Hollywood Heroes were kind enough to knit a few rows on the original scarf
last September.
(view the press release here.)
Their enthusiasm and support inspired the current design - and the scarf they knit raised $265!

The Scarf Kit
|
Using a simple YO-K2TOG pattern, you can finish this scarf in a weekend. The approximate finished size is 6" wide by 74" long (with fringe),
but you'll have plenty of yarn left over to make your own custom design: try knitting 1 strand at a time and using our
free Biased Scarf pattern...
or knot all of the leftovers together - end to end - you'll create a one-of-a-kind project!
|
The Yarn
|
Using only the best materials, the yarns in this kit range from wool to bamboo to hand-dyed silk. The result is a fabric rich with color and texture,
while remaining soft on the skin.
|
Ebony Wood Needles
|
You'll want US 19 needles for this project. We love the
Lantern Moon Ebonys ($26.50), but the
Clovers ($13.50) work well too!
|
(feel free to print this out!)
- Use all 5 yarns together for the entire project
- Cut Fringe First - cut 30 10" pieces (you'll want 15 pieces for each end of the scarf: 5 sets of fringe on each end of the scarf - and each set is comprised of 3 'pieces'). And remember, each 'piece' is actually 5 strands held together.
- Using US 19 Needles, cast on 9 Stitches.
- K1, *YO, K2TOG* every row until you almost run out of yarn.
- Bind Off.
- Attach Fringe - 5 sets of fringe on each end of the scarf - and each set is comprised of 3 'pieces'
Note: you will have some yarn left over... try knotting it all together - end to end - and knitting another scarf - you'll have created a one-of-a-kind project!
