Illusion Knitting with Allison
Join Allison for this 2-session class to explore the magic that is Illusion Knitting! This technique works well for scarves, dishcloths and afghans. Look at the pattern directly, and all you see are stripes. Look at it from an angle and the hidden pattern magically appears. During the first class you will work on a small sample piece using 2 colors. The second class will give you the opportunity to learn how to create your own chart, or choose one of several patterns already charted for you to make a dishcloth.
Level: Must know how to knit and purl
Materials: Pick up a materials list from the store at the time of sign up.
Dates in Reno: TBA

Meet the instructor -- Allison Judge
I began knitting in 1989 when the youngest of our 3 daughters was 2. I knew I wouldn't get into 'Mother Heaven' unless I made some of their clothing, and I knew I disliked sewing. I also wanted to be able to do something better than my brother, Gus. We do tend to be a competitive family, and he's an excellent knitter!
I was extremely lucky to find a wonderful knitting teacher in the little town of Truckee, California. She is Diane Soucy, who designs patterns sold as 'Knitting Pure & Simple'.
I took to knitting like a sheep takes to growing wool. And over the years I've taken workshops from knitters such as Alice Starmore, Beth Brown-Reinsel, Charlene Schurch, Ginger Luters, Meg Swanson, Lucy Neatby, Kathryn Alexander and SO many more. All have generously imparted their wisdom, and it's important to me to pass on to others what I have learned from them.
I've had patterns published in 'Spin-Off' Magazine and 'Fashion Knitting'. I serve on the scholarship committe for the Spin-Off Autumn Retreat (more information at www.interweave.com) and write book reviews for Spin-Off Magazine.
My students tell me I'm a patient teacher, which is a wonderful compliment as it is my goal to bring to my student's lives what knitting has brought to mine.
Currently I am not only teaching, but writing patterns with my friend and knitting buddy, Jeanne Giles. We've created '2 Askew Designs', and hope to widen the knitting world with our creations!
Happy Knitting!
Allison
