Doug and I were married in September. September 9, 2000 to be exact. We took our honeymoon in September... skiing in Chile and windsurfing in Brazil.
It was amazing. In fact, if i close my eyes for long enough, i can imagine that the sunset over the ocean in Buzios wasn't too different
in color from this month's color.
So why didn't we wait to use this color in September? I guess I just don't know... maybe because the beautiful blue, rich yellow (honey!) and purple
reminded me more of a lazy June evening than a potentially snowy fall September night. Or maybe because this color
simply makes me want to curl up with a book under the blue sky and watch the beautiful flowers dance in the breeze.
And besides, who says that as we celebrate our 10th year of marriage (and our son's 1st birthday), we can't pretend that we're on our honeymoon all year long?!
Ok, ok. that last bit was a little too syrupy even for me. bottom line? i love the honey color in this month's colorway - and I didn't want to wait to knit with it until the fall.
what started out being a romantic story really just boiled down to me being selfish. and who says that marriage will change you?! xoxo - Laura
p.s. wanna see how it looks knit up? Sara has started pair of socks...

Wool Watcher Alert: Araucania Azapa
147 yards
$17 per hank
|
Ok, we're going to try something new... Last week we received a new yarn from Araucania called Azapa (it's new to us).
Azapa is a single-ply Merino, Alpaca, Silk blend with specks of Donegal. Because it's super duper soft, it's great for sweaters or blankets. I love this yarn.
On Wednesday June 9th, we're going to be putting a few balls of each
color on the Wool Watcher at an AMAZING discount. Why, you ask? Allow me to explain...
|
|
First, people like a great deal. Second, I'm convinced that if a few of you order this yarn at a great deal and knit something small with it, you're going to fall in love with it and will want to order it in the future. So, as a way of introducing this new yarn, quite a few of you will be able to buy a ball or two at an almost risk-free price
and will be able to test it for yourself. Of course once you receive and work with the yarn, we'd love it if you took a few minutes to review it on our website or on ravelry... everyone will want to know what you think!
And we hope that you fall deeply in love with it and get more for a bigger project!
|
|
By the way... If you aren't familiar with our Wool Watcher, you may want to check it out! Follow our Wool Watcher puppy as he searches out and finds amazing very limited time deals on yarn, needles, bags, books, and more!

The new Noni Patterns are here and are adorable as ever. Now that summer is slowly arriving, we're starting to think about spending time at the neighborhood pool.
We've gotten Huck his first set of swim trunks (and a little shirt to cover his pale skin), but need a towel that he can call his own... i'm thinking that the Bunny and Lamb towel below
is going to be just perfect! I might make the bunny a slightly different color (brown and blue, anyone?), but am excited to try it out in one of our
machine washable cotton yarns.

Leave it to Trendsetter Yarns to come up with something that I've never seen before. A yarn with silk flowers and wooden beads? You've got to be kidding me. Nope. it's true.
This crazy yarn has 80 yards per ball and knits up quickly on an 8 or 9 needle. Crazy, yes... fun? Um, i can't remember a yarn that had more of it! If you're looking for something different
this summer, you've found it with the Soleil. (Personally, I LOVE it... but i'm not altogether quite sure why. And inspired by the
Soleil Pattern Book, sandy started knitting this scarf as soon as our shipment arrived.)
Alternatively, the new Free Spirit yarn from Trendsetter is a casual, funky fiber with a unique texture.
This worsted weight yarn self-stripes into patches of color when you work with it, making for a fun and original garment or accessory.
My favorite part about this yarn is that it is somewhat on the heavier side, being a cotton, acrylic, linen and nylon blend creating a fabric that drapes beautifully!
The Trendsetter Free Spirit pattern book has plenty of projects to keep you busy with this spectacular yarn, my favorite being the Sideways Peplum Pullover,
a classic short sleeved T jazzed up with a multi-directional band around the bottom of the sweater -which looks awful nifty with Free Spirits self-striping stripes!
