At the end of this month, we're going to be filming another set of videos for the website: product reviews (like the
Noro Aya(!)
and the new Louisa Harding book, Cake!)...
Like fine wines, our videos are getting better as we age (haha!) and this next set of videos will have better camera angles, lighting, etc.
We've heard your suggestions and are going to work hard to implement them! That said, the video above has been our most popular to date: in it,
jeanne solves one of our customer's most pressing issues: how to pick up stitches. Let us know what you think!

Panda Cotton Checkered Leaves Socks
Panda Cotton Checkered Leaves Sock
Save 20%!!
Now: $16.56 w/free pattern
(Was $20.70)
|
BBQ Sauce, Blueberry Pancakes, and Fireworks? I'm thinking that the folks from Crystal Palace were just returning home from a relaxing
and BBQ filled July 4th weekend when they designed the new colors of their incredibly popular sock yarn,
Panda Cotton. Berry Compote, Lake Trail, and Leaf Shades round out the newest colorways and they all are sock-inspiring. They make me want to knit!
And the best thing about Crystal Palace yarns (besides their yarns, of course!)? They have TONS of free patterns on their website!
This month's "deal of the month" is just that: you get 20% off of 3 balls of Panda Cotton - and the pattern is free (you just have to print
it from the Crystal Palace website). And, as always, just because you buy the kit of the month doesn't mean you have to knit the Checkered Socks...
you can use your 3 balls (or 6! or 9!) for anything that comes to mind :)

New Namaste and Offhand
When Amber, Victoria and I returned last weekend from the annual trade show in Long Beach, there were a few products and lines
that drew unanimous agreement from us - we simply had to carry them.
You see, we just LOVE bags. Handbags, shoulderbags, small bags, big bags, leather bags, cloth bags, you name it...!
Without bags, where would we put all of our hard-earned yarn? That said, we simply couldn't walk away from the trade show floor without putting our orders in. And can I tell you how tickled we were
to receive our orders just a few days ago? Amber's fav is the
Catalina Pouch, which can obviously be used for anything from yarn accessories to
storing loose change and lipstick! Mine remains the Zhivago Bag
from Offhand Designs... the Midge colorway has the coolest orange/rust/ecru print I've ever seen. And don't worry about the ecru - the girls at
Offhand did their own dirt testing: they rolled theirs in the mud and on the car and then tried freshening it up with spot cleaner.
The result? It worked! I'm convinced (though I might not go through the trouble to roll it in the mud) and will be adding Midge to my ever growing collection.
KA Exchangeable Bamboo Needle Sets
Miniature Bamboo Needle Set ($99)
|
Ok, these exchangeable needle sets are about as cool as they get... similar in idea to the addi clicks, these sets are based on the KA bamboo needles
from Japan that have been growing steadily in popularity over the last few years. Haven't used KA needles before? Well to be honest, neither had I
(until they sent me a sample to try, that is). What did I think? I loved them! They are similar to Clover Bamboo needles, but slightly slicker.
And I love that these exchangeable sets come with so many options... the Standard Switch set contains 39 different combinations ($99), while the
mid ($61) and large sets ($74.90) contain 25 and 36 respectively.
|
But I think my favorite item in the lineup is their Miniature Bamboo Needle Set...
I've never seen a set like this before - it's brilliant! It includes all of the right size needles and notions for those small projects:
4 inch dpns size 0-5, 9" circulars size 0-1, hooks 2-3mm, fabric case, mini single point needles, yarn needles in 3 sizes,
4 medium pt protectors, bamboo marking pins. It's a terrific gift idea and even comes in a couple of different red case options - in case you're thinking ahead to Valentines Day :)
p.s. Please note that we'll be getting additional case colors for most of the kits below - so if you don't see one that you like now, please check again in a few weeks!
p.p.s. We're planning to do a set of video reviews at the end of this month and have these sets on our list... we'll show you the insides, how the work, and all of the nifty features. Stay tuned.

Grayson Handles are Back!
Grayson E Large Rolled Handles
$46 per pair
|
The Grayson E large rolled handles are
back and better than ever (well, technically they'll be back in our shop around the 26th)!
These lovely leather bag handles are still hand-made in Northern California and come with silver hardware.
The new European leather collection proves to be a outstanding new development from Grayson E; the leather (natural full grain Italian leather) is softer
and more supple than that previously used - it's amazing! And it's drum dyed for through and through even color.
For now, we'll only have a few colors in stock... and we'll be taking better pictures in about a week. :-)
Just a reminder: we still have a few of their other handles left in stock at 50% off!

Yes, you read it correctly... we are now carrying EVERY SINGLE color of
Malabrigo Worsted Merino. ALL 129 SHADES!!
We're going to do our absolute best to keep every color in stock, but we're hoping that you'll be a bit patient with us in the beginning as
we figure out the ordering strategy. As of today, we have 118 of the 129 colors ready to ship and have the other 11 colors on order - we're just waiting for them to arrive.
And as you browse the Worsted Merino page on the website,
you're likely to notice that we're using a mix of photos from Malabrigo (102 - Sealing Wax) and ones that we've taken ourselves (207 - SM Gold, for example).
We will slowly be taking our own photos for all of the colors and will be putting them up little by little - stay tuned!

New Magazines and Projects
What? Spring issues already?? We are in the middle of the winter's biggest snowstorm, so my brain simply can't process
the thought of daisies, easter eggs, and spring knitting. In fact, I had to pull this Jasper Sweater
off of the store wall yesterday because I was so cold!
That said, we've just received a couple of the new Spring Magazines this week and I thought that some of you (living in warmer climates)
might be ready to take a look!
Also below are 2 projects that caught my eye recently: the Merino Mia Lace Wrap has been FLYING out the door - the pattern is from the
Winter issue of Vogue Knitting.
As of this writing, we are backordered on a couple of the 8 colors used, but we should be receiving them any day now... and, as always, we're happy to
send out the colors we have today so you can get started (and we cover the additional shipping). :)
The Frog Prince below is a project that I saw in a recent issue of Interweave Crochet...
i've been crocheting a lot more recently and immediately thought of Huck when i saw it (of course, Wiley would also love to have a Frog Prince)!
New Yarns
What's new for January? Lots! We're gradually getting all of the new Spring yarns and books
and will be giving you a heads up as our shipments arrive (berroco comes next week, as well as new debbie bliss, spud and chloe,...the list keeps going!).
This week we received new colors of Crystal Palace's Panda Cotton, Panda Superwash, Mini Mochi and Mochi Plus, as well as 3 brand new yarns from them:
Cotton Twirl (worsted weight cotton and elastic), Mini Solids (the same as mini mochi but in solid colors), and Plus Solids (a solid single ply yarn to go with Mochi Plus - soft as a kitten and great for mixing and matching).
In contrast to the machine washable yarns above comes a brand new, beautifully sophisticated cotton and
silk blend from Noro. This yarn promises to be one of their most popular to date...
it's called
AYA! How do we gauge how successful a new yarn will be?
By your reaction! It only took about 10 minutes from the time we added this yarn to our
website for people to start calling about it - that's a good sign, for sure. Made from Cotton, Silk, and Wool, each ball has 148 yards and is as light as a feather (well, technically each balls weighs 50 grams, but it sure feels light). While nothing may ever be as popular
as the everlongs Silk Garden and Kureyon, Aya is certainly going to give those yarns a run for their money...

Sale Update
We're making room (again)! Below are a few yarns that we're clearing the shelves of... A few are yarns that have
been discontinued, while others are yarns that we've decided to transition out so that we can bring in more new stuff!!
Just a quick reminder that we still have a bit of these discontinued yarns in stock!
